i saw dallas in birmingham the year he took westminster,i had the pleasure of speaking with james moses and get up close to the DALLAS,he was totally different from what i'd seen in the "AKC RING".confident,well mannered and cool as a cucumber..substantial size,but not overly so,very nice ears that didn't appear soft or too big,excellent confident gaiting...he was far and away the class of the group that day...no roach or exaggerated rear slant of the back,not cow-hocked,good pasterns.his competition on this day were the "typical" hock-walking,ant-eaters with those crazy loose front legs...i felt this dog could hold his own at any conformation venue and do well.my comments"hock-walking ant eaters" are not intended as an afront to any particular dog,but to put blame on the breeders who have prepetuated"the american german shepherd dog fancy"to breed a dog so far away from any functional standard.

"Dallas" is definitely 1 of the best of the last decade in terms of "American" GS.

My only real problem with him - having only seen him in 2D - is his apparently weak ears. They're either weak, or not quite large enough; unsure, or maybe both. This is opposite the usual problem of American dogs' ears being too big (and sometimes weak as well).

Note again, that he was an "All-Breed" dog, not a specialty dog. I much prefer the dogs that go for the All-Breed ring (see also from the past, Beech Hill's Benji v. Masco and Covy-Tucker Hill's Manhattan). Apparently, the Specialties can't see the forest for the trees and are very much extreme. In the US, I guess we need people who DON'T specialize in the breed to keep them in check!

Hello I am from Iowa and I seen Dallas back a few yrs ago before he retired at the Fort Dodge dog show where he took his breed both days and took best in show both days I was inpressed on how he preformed and I was glad to see a dog come all the way with a really good handler we dont see that much in the Ft Dodge show and I was glad to have him there.

I'm not an American showline person, but I've always liked this dog. For his lines, he is very handsome. And never appeared so "down" in the rear that most Ambreds are. Great job with Dallas.

Also earned his HSCs, a truly great tending dog. Very driven on sheep, always in the right place. Had he been y9ounger when he started I'm sure he easily could have earned not only a HGHG but also a herding championship. ALso top producer of all time in AKC history.
