Hello, I have my first German Shepherd, she was born on 03/23/14 and is with me since 4 months.

I have some doubts about how to read pedigree (good or bad) to because it is the first generation born in Portugal so I have no point of comparison.
Does anyone know the ancestors of it? Anything, good or bad, that you need to know?

We have been training a little bit of everything, and it is perfect in everything! Has a spectacular bite from an early age, excellent motivation, obedient, intelligent, super smart. Loves mainly defense and search.
Any advice on which sports / competitions experiment with it?

We could not identify exactly her line, she is definitively not an exhibition dog (and never has been this the aim), she seems to be a mixture of a line of work (father's side) with a Czech line (mother's side), correct me if I'm wrong please ...  not that it matters much, just out of curiosity ;)

As already said it is perfect! not only as a working dog, but as family dog! Loyal to the owner and the owner only, sharing family with two mutts dogs and a cat, playful, full of life. she is our baby!

Thank you for your attention and patience, I'm just trying the best for my girl, and trying to know a little better the ancestors of her to be able to predict some of her future.

Here she is: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=2357199-bruxa-quinta-do-salomo

Pretty is as pretty does but the pedigree will not be the blame .. nice bloodlines in the pedigree.  Almost too good in fact .... in which breed registry was she registered??  The female looks good to my eyes and if she pleases you then all is well. Czech dominant on the maternal lines (3/4) and 5/8 Czech overall not that it is all that important.  looks wise she is more like her Dutch side with her long legs and slender body .. I have a female with some of the Berger Hochburg blood and she is tall and very fast.  Your dog reminds of the great Forma von Karthago ..

Very nice looking female...According to the pedigree she looks to be approximately 1/4 West German 3/4 Czech...

What concerns do you have about her? What are your plans for her?

If you're looking for a sport or activity to do with her....Check to see what is available to you in your area...Are there Working Dog type clubs in your area? Such as:

*Schutzhund

*Personal Protection Clubs...PSA...SDA...etc...

*Obedience Clubs...Whatever is in your country such as AKC (American Kennel Club in the United States)...

*Tracking Clubs

*SAR (Search & Rescue)

Your girl has a good Working Dog pedigree...You just have to play with her and see what best suits her if you want to know more about what she'd be good at...If you visit some local clubs they can help you and will let you know more about what she does the best...

Hello thanks for the replys.
We are members of a national dog training association (Associação Cinófila do Oeste http://www.acoeste.com/, registered in the Portuguese Kennel Club) we train with her mainly obedience, heels, and defense, and also play a bit of everithing since search and rescue objects and people.
The Portuguese German Shepherd Club is dedicated too much to the lines of beauty and drops a little the working trials, just to have an idea, about 20 exhibitions of beauty and just 2 are of work proof related, more or less. We have championships, etc etc, but few support and even less information, we are lucky to be more or less within the subject because he know some good people :)

The doubts I have in relationship to research pedigree is that good things (titles etc) everyone talks about, but what about the bad things? Some of the dogs in the pedigree don't heven have date of birth placed, some don't say if they have hip or elbows tests...
And of course we also want to know the good things, it's great to hear you say that she has a very good work pedigree, and if anyone knows any ancestors or relatives to my girl it would be great to know more about them.

bubbabooboo what do you mean about being too good? both the mother and the father are now registered in the LOP (C.P.C. portuguese Kennel Club ) and so is my girl, but the mother was registered on CMKU and the father was registered in SUCHNO. The mother was imported by my dog's breeder and re-registered in Portugal by him, the father was the same by his partner.
The LOP document that I have is real and matches the pedigre in this web-site. I know it's common to fake pedigrees from these countries, but unless they have deceived the C.P.C. the pedigree that I have is real.
About her appearance, she is still puppy, was born on 3/23/14, is at that age that seems to always skinny and tall legs, she is currently in the first heat, it will still expand and gain some muscle.

Thanks again for the help and information. It's great to learn from people like that :)

you ould try contact Tiago Fontes, a lawyer in portugal and i think he owns a private security company. he shouldn't be that hard to find.

he has some great dogs, mainly WG thru pike if i remember correctly, he is def into the hard side of working dogs.

and do you listen to Sepultura, they have some portugese lyrics i can't translate?

Mr Tiago é one of the owners of my dog kennel name (Quinta do Salomão) but he lives far away and I really like a lot of the association where we are training and she is evolving day by day. We're almost ready for the BH1

Xena z Jirkova Dvora was owned by Weberhaus. I'm sure Malinda would be happy to tell you more about her, and the rest of her pedigree for that matter. She is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to the Czech pedigrees.
