Hello everyone.

Was wondering if you could be of assistance.  A friend of mine has a wonderful 19 month old she says is from German working lines on the sire's side and German show/working cross on dam's side.  She has been working with these two individuals in the San Rafael area (Renate Rank and Alfred Huphauser).  Unfortunately, they're work visa has expired and they're forced to go back to Germany.

To say the least, she's very sad over this - as she said they were finally just starting to make progress with the "puppy."

I was wondering if anyone could recommend anyone in the area that she could speak with about continueing the dog's training.  She's willing to travel 30 - 40 miles max (either direction) to work with a good Schutzhund trainer.

As I've only done a bit of Schutzhund work with my past GSD (over 14 years ago now) - I don't have the "foggiest" clue as to tell her where to start looking or who to start talking with.

Any assistance would be SO greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance everyone!

Oh fantastic "SentinelHarts."  Really appreciate it.

By the way - your GSD's are gorgeous!  I've been an admirer for a while now :-)

OP, I sent you a PM because I believe we are no longer allowed to post personal info. It has the name and phone # of an excellent trainer quite near her.

I do have to add however that in my journey in the Schutzhund I found that I used a number of trainers fro a variety of reasons including the fact that

if you wish to compete anyplace but your home field its a good idea to get experience on a number of helpers. We are blessed in NO CA to have a number of great helpers and hi level world and national competitors to help you train but often it means traveling far more than 30 miles. Most of my training required one way travel of between 80 to 200 miles.

If you need additional names there is an excellent trainer in the Sacramento area if she is willing to travel that far and I can get the contact info for you if you like. There is another near Dublin which would be closer to her but can't remember his name right now - Shane??? Maybe someone else can fill it in for you. Also David Dembouski used to be near Vacaville. Not sure if he still trains there.

Also I believe that South County and the San Jose Clubs are not very active these days since the vollraths left the sport. One of the ( South County?) was always by invitation only anyways as they wanted to focus on competitors working on a national and world level.

Please tell her good luck and have fun. I had great fun training and trialing my Rem who was a "half -breed" ( show/working) http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=485683-remy . Mike Caputo at the 2010 NW Regionals gave her a great compliment. When told she was a cross he said what he saw was 90% working ( her color and structure gave away the other 10%)

Perhaps you can have your friend PM or email me. I'd love to be able to keep an eye out for her at the trials.
