I HAVE A GSD THAT I AM WANTING TO CROSS WITH A GOOD FEMALE FOR SCHUTZHUND. I WOULD LIKE OPINIONS BASED ON HIS PEDIGREE WHAT WOULD CROSS WELL WITH HIM. I AM A BEGINNER AND BOUGHT THIS MALE. I REALLY LIKE HIM BUT AS I SAID AM A NOVICE. THE PEDIGREE CAN BE SEEN ON PEDIGREE DATABASE FIGARO VOM DORTMUNDER, http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/390157.html. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Is the dog currently working on titles? Is there a purpose to the breeding? Are his hips and elbows xrayed? Just some things to think about....we have way too many GSD's out there to just breed for no reason... Would you have buyers for the pups?

Please, don't breed this dog anymore until you have a lot more experience and knowledge. There are too many dogs in need of rescue as it is. I'm sorry about being so blunt, but it appears that you have bred it once already and I'm not sure to what purpose.

NEOHAUS YES HIS HIPS AND ELBOWS ARE XRAYED GOOD. I HAVE SEVERAL CANINE OFFICERS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN A PUPPY FROM HIM. HE IS WORKING ON SCHUTZHUND TITLE. MY PURPOSE IS TO FIND A FEMALE THAT WILL CROSS WELL WITH HIS BLOODLINES FOR STABLE TEMPERAMENTED DOGS. I ENJOY SCHUTZHUND AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PAIR THAT I CAN CROSS SUCCESSFULLY FOR TRIALS.

the normal way to start breeding is for one to have a female with above avarage qualities and health based on the things you want to improve on your bitch , you select a male and go out to breed the chances of making a succesful combination this way are very slim If your dog is that good , someone with a good bitch will eventualy select your male for breeding , and the people interested can get a pup from a well thoughtover combination the path your choosing is very unusual , and never led to succes before

A pair fo trials...??? Or to breed? If the dog isn't titled, how do police officers even know what it is made of? There are too many dogs/pups in shelters for people to keep breeding for no reason!!!! I'm sorry but I don't think you should continue the breeding process without more thought process...I don't think you have any idea why you want to breed. There are many good working breeders out there that put a lot of time and effort into their breedings. I am sure you can find a good dog/pup for sport purposes. And I am not sure how many top sport people will breed to just any male. The have high expectations!!!!

Based on his pedigree, I would be inclined to say even if he is a SUPER dog, he would most likely never reproduce traits necessary for police service, or even IPO competition... Leave breeding to someone else... I hate to be so blunt, but you'll probably do it and then find out for your self... assuming you keep track of the progress of your puppies. :) I would suggest telling the police officers to get puppies from a WORKING line if they want police dogs... Too often people want to breed their dog because they love him/her, when really the dog should never be bred. DK

Looks like you bred this dog at 1 year of age??? How could you have know anything about the dog at that point??? Sheesh!!!!!!

I dont think you should sell these puppies to an officer. If they ever had to rely on the dog to save their life.......well I wouldnt. If your boy does well in Schutzhund then do it with him. If you are trying to breed for schutzhund, scrap what you have and buy some working line dogs. It is far too hard to produce schutzhund competitors from these lines.

Who are you Grovebeauty? We are the owners of Dina v. Germannshof. We Imported her from Germany in April 2003. She has never been bred to the male you list as your dog's sire Benny von der Steilgasse. Dina's mother is not Imola v. Steigerhof it is Ola v. Steigerhof. Debbie Windigen Hügel
