DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY GOOD FLEA AND TICK PREVENTIVE THEY WOULD LIKE TO SHARE INFO ON. THE VET PRICES ARE KILLING MY BANK ACCOUNT. 6 MONTHS OF COMFORTIS FOR 2 DOGS IS $200 BUCKS!!!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!

In our area Comfortis for fleas is turning out to be the most effective. It does not have a tick componemt however. $200 for 6 months for 2 dogs is not a bad deal, your vet is not making much of a mark-up at that price.
Some people are still finding the Frontline Plus or the generic version effective. it seems to vary even by neighborhood how effective it is.
Fleas and ticks are horrible this year.

I sprayed down nematodes in 2007 and haven't had a tick problem since, nor have I had to use any of the topicals on my dogs. I have heard that they take care of fleas too but I've never had a problem with fleas. I also heard that Borax (I think that's what it's called) can be used on the inside of your home to kill the fleas.

Kelly, I'm not aware of any nematodes that address tick control, only ones for flea control.  Do you recall what product you used?

I go to Tractor Supple and buy Bug Off in the horse section. 40 oz $14 Keeps Mosquitos, fleas , tick and many other bugs. Is it safe. I use it on myself as does most of my club to keep off ticks and mosquitos. I apply bit once a month for my dogs. Light mist all over and I am done!

Triflexis is Comfortis + Interceptor. I've used it a few times when there is just one dog, because it's pretty pricey as well.
