Hello,
I have a question about elbows. My dog was prelimed at 22 months and sent off to OFA. Everything came back good. We had officials done at 22 months and the right elbow came back as Grade 1 for degenerative joint disease. Does that seem right? To be so close to 2 years old and be fine and then three months later thats not the case? So, I am thinking of having hi
re-xrayed by an orthopedic specialist and sent to the SV. Thought on this? Also, who do you use? OFA or SV and why? The prelims and X-rays were done by two different vets and the second one came highly recommended. He said they looked good when we had my dog xrayed and predicted the hips accurately (good). I have a call in to him now and he is going to review his notes as the OFA has the X-rays.
Lastly, if I do decide to use the SV, how do I go about doing that?
Thanks so much!
Christy

One difference between prelims and official OFAs is that it is only one vet's opinion for prelims and three vet's opinions for the official ones done after 24 months. OFA is pretty subjective so evidently one or more vets saw something they did not like whereas the prelim vet did not. I believe you can call and ask if the diagnosis was uniform between the three vets and if not what the breakdown was.

To use sv must join USA or WDA. Then submit via them to the SV.
