For WDA and USA conformation shows, I'm wondering if anyone has actually entered their dogs into the working class with OFA elbows and/or Czech rated hips; or if anyone has entered their dog into the working class with failed hip rating.

My head is spinning right now because I cant get an answer from WDA about whether I can enter my female into the working class at a conformation show.  She is ZVV1 titled with 0/0 hips and OFA normal elbows.

First off, I read the guidelines for conformation shows and it makes no mention of hips and elbows certs to get a G or SG show rating in the working class.

I emailed the WDA more than a month ago and asked, my female “has her elbows certified normal by OFA.  Is this acceptable to qualify the dog for a "V" show rating and/or breed survey?”  (In hindsight, I should have just specifically asked if we could enter the working class or not)

I got the response, “they will need to be evaluated by the SV to be eligible for a V rating and a breed survey.”  When they said I couldn't get a V, I just thought we could still get a G or SG.  They never mentioned whether or not we could enter the working class with OFA normal elbows.  When I turned in my entry form, I got a call from the host club saying that I couldn’t enter because by female didn’t have the right hip and elbow certs.  So I called WDA back and got a confusing response, ending with a, “well maybe she qualifies for a G show rating”, and “it might depend on who the vet was that certified her hips”.  I emailed WDA my female’s hip and elbow certs, and am still waiting for a response. I'm surprised this has never come up before.

My male has a1 elbows and a4 hips.  I thought he could still enter the conformation show but apparently not?  Again, it makes no mention of hips/elbows in the description of what qualifies a dog for G or SG rating.

how old is your dog  cause under USA rules if your dog is less than 3 1/2 years  he/she could go into the working class and get a V rate , after 3  1/2 years they will need a KKL to go in the working class.
Hips/elbows are needed for the KKL. USA will acept the OFA hips , but not sure on the elbows.
i dont know much with WDa as i have not done any of there shows.
i do my dogs A stamps now so i dont have to worry , it does sounds like BS, but whatever i guess.

Whats that? Ratings? Dont talk about - ratings? You kidding me? Ratings? I just hope we can enter the show (In my best Jim Mora voice) .

But you are correct that because mine are over 3 1/2, they cant get a V anyways.

I entered my Czech import in a show he was rated hips as a 1/1 when imported. He was shown and they let me enter him by mistake.
You must have hips rated by OFA or A stamp in germany.
I had to get his hips done here and sent to OFA before they would award the KKL to me so it went as pending till it was done.

But they should not have let me enter.

So but that is the rules. Per USA

I now know and sent my other dogs hips to germany even though he was rated with FCI a hips and elbows because they wont accept it

Best of luck

Your KKL was pending, but was your show rating on the dog also pending?  I've seen specific requirements for the breed survey writen out, but not for the show rating.

Welcome to the confusion of trying to show your dog in the US. I'll take a stab at it.

You can enter your dog in a WDA or USA event before two years old without a title, or breed survey. Over two years old and it needs a title to enter and can rate a V rating up until it's 3.5 years old in either a WDA or USA conformation event. After that age, it needs a breed survey.

Here's where it gets a little sticky. USA will accept OFA hips and elbows as well as 'a' stamp hips and elbows for their breed survey. WDA accepts OFA hips and 'a' stamp hips and elbows for their breed surveys. Both organizations accept each others breed surveys, sort of. 'Sort of', means your USA surveyed dog needs to have 'a' stamped elbows (or other FCI recognized organization) for the survey to be recognized by the WDA even if the survey was done by an SV koermeister.
