I have female GSD ,she like to put her right hand step on my left foot, what is the meaning?
by AmbiiGSD on 01 February 2012 - 13:02
I had a male that used to do this, either lean against my leg or put his paw on my foot. i have always believed its for reassurance, he would only do it in a situation where he wasn't quite sure how things were about to turn out.

I saw a video a FMBB winning dog , she also did that ,she is a very confidence dog?

I would say it is about dominance. Dog is trying to "feel" if he/she can push you away or is stronger than you.

Do you mean like sitting back against you, on your foot? Does she put a lot of weight against you? Maybe not in your case, but some dogs do this to claim you. . Like the Pit Bull I worked with yesterday would do this, and if one of the other dogs came up to the owner, the Pit would growl. He was sitting on her feet, with his back against her legs, putting a lot of weight against her. I've seen quite a few dogs do that.

And a side note, Ambii, is that the same black GSD that was in previous avatar pics of yours? WOW! That dog looks great.

I have several dogs of very strong character who do this: right front foot squarely on top of my left foot putting a lot of weight on it. I read it as possessiveness. They own me and we are connected!

Yes...saying, "I own this."
