I have a 2 year old male who I would like to breed survey later on after obtaining schutzhund title. I noticed that he just recently chipped an incisor, which isn't severe now, but I fear by the time we got to the point of the breed survey it may have to be removed. How do I go about getting his dentition recorded? Do they offer that at shows or separate? He has an SG rating from the young dog class. Thanks.

When a club has a conformation show and breed survey they do the dental notation there...
You need to fill out this form.... www.germanshepherddog.com/members/forms/DentalStatusForm.pdf
and take it with you. If you have a score book for your dog there is one in the back of it. From what I understand as long as the tooth that is chipped is intact (meaning the root of the tooth is still intact) then it will be ok. If you have any question contact the USA office or WDA...what ever club you are a member of. They should be able to help you.

Thank you very much. I'll see when the next show/breed survey is and get it done then.

You can do the dental certification at any show with an SV judge/Koermeister, usually they are around $10-$20. Otherwise, you could have your vet do an x-ray to prove that the tooth was there (make sure the plate has information like dog's name, tat/chip number, b-date, maybe even the registration number). But if you can make it to a show I would just do that, it's cheaper and cannot be disputed.
