Hi Cindy!
How exciting that you're familiar with Molly and her lineage.  Would you be able and willing to share what you know of her parents, grandparents, etc.
I also wondered, Molly is a very heavy set girl, is that something normal for these pups and lines?
Molly has a very thick undercoat that I am having a hard time finding the right tool for removing the old hair, and it is causing dirt and moisture to accumulate under the loose undercoat and create sores and I was wondering if this is something you have had any experience with? I have been brushing her every other day and am starting to see some progress, but the thighs and hips are very thick with hair that isn't being easily removed, any help here would be great!
Thanks, Barbara

Barbara,

I asked Vickie and here is what she said about both parents of Molly.

Molly's mother is a very nice working dog.  She has good ball drive, her obedience is really nice and her protection work is probably some of the best my trainer said she has ever seen.  She is a very civil dog and if you don't have a tug or something when you out her off the sleeve she will look for something else to bite, sometimes accidentally the trainer.  She just gets so wound up and it is accidental when she nipps the handler.  Troja is a large female and we originally were going to breed Troja (T-Rex is what we affectionately call her) to Verdi Karthago, Dean Calderon's dog.  The breeding between Verdi and Troja fell through and we really wanted the 3-3 on Aly for the hip factor.  Found Lex who is a great dog as well and my trainer is very pleased we went with Lex after all.  He is a little smaller than Troja and that my trainer believes helped keep the size in good check.  Verdi is just a huge dog also.

Lex, the sire is a great working dog as well.  He is very civil and good in protection.  He has NUMEROUS 100pt. tracks and I think even a 100pt FH, not 100% sure about that, but I think I remember Rus saying that.  His obedience is really nice and he has great drives for the ball.  When my trainer saw Lex work, he is the total package in a working dog.

As far as the shedding goes it's best to wash the coat really good and then follow with some conditioner that has silicon in it.  This will help the loose hair come out.  Then blow dry her with a "high velocity" dryer.  That is what Vickie uses on all my dogs.  The raw spots are probably the beginning of hot spots.  Also, keep in mind, a dogs coat CAN mildew if it stays wet for an extended period of time.

Hope that helps,

Cindy
