Why not look to the rescues, etc. If you can't afford a fee, why would someone trust you to have the funds to feed and give the dog proper preventatives and medical attention?

I'm with Chaz. I understand it's a tough economy, I'm suffering from it too, but if you can't afford a type of fee for a dog, how are you going to afford the dog in general? For a large dog, it's anywhere from 800-1000 a year, on the cheap side (decent food, annual vaccines, heartworm/flea preventative). Now if the dog gets sick, tack on some more money to that.

"free dogs" are not valued as much as a dog that has been bought and paid for...
if you cannot afford a dog, then what happens when he/she gets sick.....or need vaccinations!
no way, i would never "give" a dog away......especially to someone who is not family....

POSTER:

I am sorry for your posting on here as you will find out

the GERMAN SHEPHERD IS  one of the most expensive dogs , breed to raise correctly.

I would never give a well bred dog away for "free Either"

I do my own medicals and the cost is AStronomical FOR THE PROPER  raising and the PROPER food alone.

Wait until things get better for you and you can handle all the Costs.

SOrry but if you think even any dog is cheaper, not if done properly.

It is like having children, and should be taken the same way in research , conditioning your home, and setting your goals, and putting away funds for the care and RAINEY DAY problems or extras that you never expect.

I think you can volunteer  at a K9 organization and enjoy dogs for free. Some of them will give you the dogs to homes for few days to socialize etc

Don't get a dog....even if it's free if you can't afford the cost of care for the dog!  They are not cheap and they are not disposable!   You bring them into your life, then you take care of them for the rest of theirs!

Read some of the other threads here & then think about your request again.....we love these dogs & care for them like family. I wouldn't approve my kids getting married until their proposed proved their worth, & their ability to care for them. You've gotta be able to care for these animals....! Get on your feet first....! jackie harris
