An AKC judge who did this and admitted it would probably be banned.
Ding! Fries are done.  This is not allowed in AKC.

Heck, three or four years ago a judge withheld placements from three bitches AT THE NATIONAL due to temperament (good call, needed to be done).  There was a HUGE uproar about it.  I am unsure whether or not the judge got a reprimand from AKC, but I DO know that exhibitors sure were trying for one.

The Brits don't officially let judges see a catalogue in advance either;
although we all know "word gets out" about various dogs, don't we ?
The newer Regional Shows operate outside the Kennel Club, but I'm
not sure if they've gone that far from the KC Rules.  Perhaps some
League member or someone who gets to Shows more often than I've
been able to recently could enlighten us ?  (I know I could go and look
it up ...).

Shepherd people here have already ticked off the KC royally by wanting
gradings;  on-the-day verbal critiques; outer rings to attract from, etc.
Personally I'd be entirely happy with the german system if I were exhibiting.
I really don't envy invited SV judges, who have to work within the UK
system.

Word doesn't have to work very hard to get out in AKC.  Many parent clubs send their breed publication to judges.  Not to mention judges get things like Showsight Magazine and the Canine Chronicle for free.

...LOL, I know I'm going to get killed for this but here goes.

As a complete amateur looking in I can look at one of these so called "show GSD" and see that it is a complete abomination of mother nature. The arched backs the crocked wobbly legs. How can any sain person look at that and think it's pretty or correct?

What is wrong with the dog going back to Dallas?

PINERIDGE

by PINERIDGE on 08 November 2012 - 06:11

Well- they're not sending him to Texas if that's what you were thinking.
I need to go on record - I don't like the dog - I don't like what he stands for -- (Captain crunch)   As far as I'm concerned, you could put a goat on the end of a leash - and if Jimmy Moses was handling it - it would win.  and gee, guess who owns a piece of this dog.

He's a great example -- of why American bred dogs are (still) going to hell in a hand basket.  I M not so H O !!

He - and others - may look quite flashy in the ring - and yes, I suppose they can move with some honesty -  but to me they are gentic  timebombs. you gotta think about stuff when you see dogs that ar 15 TIMES Sundance Kid -- or something similar -- That's not linebreeding anymore - that's just stupid.

I want to see a dog with generations of ancestors that lived to be 12-14 -- not generations of heart problems, bloat, dysplasia, epilipsey, DM,  and what else? --  I'm not saying that this is Captin Crunch's heitage - Im saying you can find these things at every turn in the road --  and yet - these are the same "breeers" who put down the German breeding --- go figure.

LOL No, I didn't think they were sending him to Texas.

Frankly I liked Dallas a lot (I named my first GSD after him). I think he was a fine specimen comapared to a lot of Am. GSD's. I do not think it is fair to criticize him, when look at dogs like Remo for example - in 8 generations he goes back to Uran 24 times.... same amount Dallas goes back to Lance. The only thing I see different other than names is that the German dogs have hips/elbows done. I'm just trying to understand where you are coming from... Granted, I have a limited knowledge of which dog had what issue, so maybe it's been said and just isn't clicking with me.... I'm still learning!

you guys are talking about an ASL, that has a pedigree full of some of the poorest dogs and breeders for health and character to ever exist. One breeder has been caught faking x-rays as well as criminal convictions and scams. a couple of others and their dogs known for no health checks at all. one dog in the pedigree so flaky that he would always have to be brought from a remote location straight into the ring. and I have never seen anything he produced any different. and I did own progeny.

to each his own and maybe somehow, all this combined to produce an example of what a GSD should be, but I doubt it.

I said these same things about these two lines 5 years ago on this board and became the poster child for " basher," I thank you folks for your astute observations because they were true then and true now....it's the genetic pathway and overindulgence that is primary reason for condition of both lines, especially in health and temperament.
