FYI=  1cc per 5lbs of fenben.also does not take care of tapes from fleas ,give for 3 days for worms is still by far the best wormer out there, 6 day treatment for giarradia.

I do 5 days fenbendazole then wait a week and do praziquantel wait a week and then do the fenbendazole again for 5 days before pups go home. This way I know I have covered them. I used to do them only twice but I'd rather be safe than sorry and since I have never had side effects from Fen. I feel it is very safe.
I buy the big bottle of livestock fenbendazole and the praziquantel (sp?) from amazon. The Fen costs roughly $120. and it is totally worth every penny. 1 bottle lasts me about a year or so.
I deworm my adults about 2x a year in the same fashion. Except I do worm nursing mothers at the same time as her pups.
I do not have fleas on my dogs (I think it is too dry here) but I do feed rabbits and deer sometimes. I don't really know why my dogs don't get fleas here and the wild animals do.  You can see the fleas on these. I would rather give my dogs natural meat and deworm than not give them the wild meat.
I give the 1cc per 5lbs as well.
I have had a couple pups in the past that got giardia. Not since doing this routine.

Tapeworms are also spread by eating mice and snails infected with the eggs. Also remember your animal does not have to have fleas to ingest one. Pick up in yard, woods, another dog, etc. I've used fen. Or also known as panacur to treat worms. Very effective!!

I work at an animal hospital and It is my understanding that Fenbendazole (Panacur/Safeguard) is not the drug of choice to kill Tapeworms (specifically tapeworms.. its great for almost all other parasites they may get - including Giardia), as it only kills certain types of tapeworms.  DRONTAL PLUS is labeled for tapeworms in DOGS.

The tapeworms that dogs commonly get are transmitted through ingesting fleas and/or eating rabbits who get this same tapeworm.

There are other species of tapeworms that can be picked up from wild animals that Fenbendazole will kill.
