I thought I finally understood the different (alphabet soup) letter title meanings.
Looking at dogs (in my dogs pedigree) on Working dog website I noticed that, where some had a SchH3 title listed previously, the titles have been changed to VPG3.
Dog Examples:
Cliff von der Mohnequell and Mink von Haus Wittfeld
Is this the same title? I heard that the SchH title is going away and the VPG title will replace it. Is this true?
Are the titles IP and IPO the same, just shortened?
Also, on WD website in dog info listing some dogs had a Kl.1 designation. What does that mean?
Thanks for your input, it is greatly appreciated.

IPO has some differences in the exercises. In January, it will all be IPO. Also, as I understand it, the focused heeling, with the dog looking in the handler's eyes, will no longer be the point-getter for heeling that it is, now.

Thanks for your responses.
So, the SchH and VPG titles are going away and all trials beginning in Jan (2012 ?) will be awarding IPO titles. I assume this world wide?
Still do not know why the SchH titles that were previously listed on Cliff and Mink would be changed. Since the VPG title did not become "Politically Correct" until 2002 (I think).
Also, I think that the titles awarded before the official change should remain the same on pedigrees (not be changed from SchH to IPO), since there are differences in the exercises.
Does anybody have an answer for what Kl.1 means?
Thanks a Bunch

Even now, NO WHERE in the rules does it state that the dog has to look at the handler at all.
I believe what you are talking about is the SV directive to not reward the handler/dog team whose dog heels with his head straight up. (not turned to the side at all) You see many Mals do this. This is not the same as the focused heeling where the dogs head is up, tilted to the side to look at the handler.

Actually, I think (hope?) that the goal is not to reward even the turned head. All of that is an unnecessary strain on the dog's neck and spine...for what? I agree with you, though, that the Mals may be a big part of the impetus. I think it all started with Al Banuelos coming so close to winning the 1999 USCA Championship in Reno. Scared the hell out of half of USCA!!
Remember when no one cared about those "little red dogs," because there were so few of them in the sport? When they were often referred to as "fuzzy Dobermans"? Then, they started winning! Even to-the-bone rottie people ran out and got a mal, thinking that would be the key to the podium. Now, they are everywhere!

Thank you............I thought so...but did not want to add information to my puppies pedigree without verifying first.

Nia you have said this a few times and it's wrong. He didn't "come close". HE WON!!!
But you are 100% correct about everything else
