to use the words of ronny himself , eros is not a tom like dog , but much more a mothertypical dog

tom was a more hard stubborn tough dog , where eros could be called more easy in obedience etc , not to take away anything from any dog , but  to make a simple statement , eros and como are more pointdogs were Tom was definately not

I would say Vito waldwinkel produced several nice dogs   , and for continuation of the line , I would put my money there , and not on eros  and como offspring

i am confused who is eros

why does tom have a reputation of a points dog also?

tom was a more hard stubborn tough dog

That matches what I would consider typical traits coming down from Robby Glockeneck and also sometimes from Orry vh Antverpa, although I think very high prey drive, stubborn, tough from Orry.

thank you blackhorn

what did ruth bring to the table? no one ever mentions her? did his serious side come from her?

she has been used a lot and has been paired with a lot of dogs hasnt she.

I think Ruth brings aggression and dominance through her grandfather Fax. She probably brings other stuff as well, but what I saw directly from Orry sons (and Olko) was very high prey and hardness and lacking somewhat in aggression--they could be locked in prey in the bitework.

"tom was a more hard stubborn tough dog"

He must have had other qualities also to make him a winner?

What other qualities did he have, that might balance these out?

@ skilaki , the qualities of ronny vandenberg made him a winner

by skilaki on 02 February 2012 - 08:02

Yes, I can appreciate that duke1965, a brillliant dog without a decent handler (not saying Mr Vandenberg was just decent!) cannot accomplish much, but it also takes a high quality dog to win at that level, a mediocre one wouldn't make it at that level, just in my opinion of course.
