CAROL

So here we go..........................thread going back to typical British slanging match.

Xambi made VA1 in Ireland, she had a German handler, as did the VA2 and VA3 females, the VA2 and VA3 females were high quality German Imports, Xambi is British bred.

You must be a very priviliged person to know all the conversations that went on between handlers and judge at the British Sieger, and anyone that knows Rudiger Mai would know that he would not be swayed by handlers comments. The V2 female was also a VA female and also handled by a German, again Xambi is British bred as opposed to V2 who is German Bred. You will not know this but Xambi was booked to be handled by Andrew Connolly at the British Sieger, we wanted her shown this time with a British handler, but as you may well know Andrew injured his hand a few days before the show and he advised us the day before that he would not be able to handle her, the German handler stepped in at the last minute to handle Xambi, other British handlers that we tried were booked, you may remember there were I think some 20 plus females in this class.

Anyway this is by the by and not really anyones business, all I am trying to say is that it is possible to achieve a high placement with a British bred dog, it takes alot of hard work and time to train these dogs, anyone who is out tracking at 6am will tell you this. I am glad to hear that we now have a few SV recognised judges in the UK, this will also create more opportunities for those wanting to train their dogs.

As I said in previous post this is just one show a year and if you do not have the facilities or the inclination for working your dogs in schutzhund there are plenty of other shows to compete at.

I look forward to the British Sieger and hope it is an enjoyable event, I know much time and work goes into this.

Hello Carol, Langsaar, and AS.

Carol re rational of percentages of shows v british sieger you are right of course, I have seen your and Alyson's dogs at the British and Irish Sieger and good on you, they always are shown in excellent condition and you both obviously put the time and effort into training, to Langhaar I will look at the links shortly thank you.

As I said it is just my personal thoughts, I really enjoy the events and as I said and will be there to support it and I really dont have a club near enough re work committments, but I do train my dogs including obedience (that I have competed at) just that I would like a level playing field, to have a chance at a VA title, maybe in our distant dreams and we will keep doing the lottery!  AShepherd  I have not come on here to do battle, just to voice my thoughts, and to objectively hear other peoples constructive points of view.

Spike: I hope the interest in training and qualifying GSD in the UK continues to grow, and the greater numbers will mean many benefits to our breed and evertone who participates. It will allow numbers of people to form clubs in their area and enjoy training while sharing costs and facilities and trainers and helpers etc. The GSD League WORKING BRANCH can help with the formation and support for new working dog branches. The benefits of such support and participation is invaluable. My sincerest best wishes for your ambitions and endeavours.
