I really appreciate your post.

I have a female out of Sadie's brother (Rex) and she too has HD. She started having trouble at 8 months old. She also had Pano then, so it was hard to tell for a while what was giving her the most trouble. When she turned 1 year old, my vet suggested spaying her and I did since I wouldn't want the HD to be passed down. The spaying seemed to help her HD for some reason, but she still seems to have trouble after over-exercising. She is now 20 months old. Her HD seems manageable right now- -but she has such a good spirit and nature. She and Sadie look almost exactly alike. Most people think all GSDogs look alike --but not me. I do not mention my dog's first name since I do not want to offend the breeder I bought her from. My breeder was nice enough to say to say that they would "replace" her if she had HD--but I could NEVER do that, I was already in love with her, bad hips and all.. I guess your posting Sadie's HD gave me an answer as to which side of parents my female's HD most likely came from. THANK YOU FOR THAT. It's a sad disease, but it is what it is, thanks again, as I have looked and looked and looked for info.

On the 27th of May 2011 Sadie's hip information was changed from Mild HD to NOT TESTED by Kennel Windigen Hügel (Windy Hill Kennels). This change was unauthorized and untrue. Sadie has HD. I was not taking a swing at the kennel when I updated her hip status. I just wanted buyers and breeders to know there was an offspring/sibling with HD.
