I'm new to reading the pedigree lines. Does anyone happen to recognize any of the dogs in my girl's lines? This is a link to her.

Also, can you tell me if she is a mixture of show and working lines once you get back a few generations? I'm not sure if I'm reading it right. Anyone who has the time and bandwidth to take a look at this with me would be much appreciated!

Must be all British dogs. Do not see any German dogs in the first three generations. Someone in the UK like Hundemutter could probably tell you about the dogs in the pedigree.

British? My dog, her sire, and her dam are all American. Not sure if you thought British because of her registered name, or if there is something you're seeing in the pedigree that leads you in that direction. This is all very new to me.

Your dog is AKC Breed Registry registered,  American bloodlines bred in the USA.  United Kennel Club (UKC) Breed Registry in the USA some dogs have Performance titles.  Further back there are some German lines as well as other Foreign dogs with working titles.

If you go by what's in the pedigree, your girl is all "BYB pet American lines". And anything passed 5 generations is lost. Yes, there's Belgium, WGSL and Czech but they are of no significance. Thats where you are 4 generations of no proof in the dog's ability to do work. She has one titled grandparent and one titled Great Grandparent and three titled Great- Great Grandparents. And those are very basic AKC titles except for the IPO1. She's beautiful and clearly you have been working with her in AKC Trial events. Your path is forward with her. Work with her and build on what you have accomplished and that will show in a pedigree that those lines produced a trainable and stable dog. After all, that's what breeding is about- creating stable, healthy, trainable dogs. It's not about what country their ancestors came from but what they have accomplished in their own country with respect to working or conformation titles. The titles mean they were compared to another dog and measured up.
I know someone who purchased their first GSD on Craigslist in the US and took it to IGP3 with the help and support of an amazing club and its members. It's about the relationship between you and your dog and the work you put in, and there's lots of work no matter what you do.

No, don't blame us - why whoever named the poster's dog thought to use such a combo is anyones' guess.
Absolutely as Heritage says. Gen 5 is a mixture of SV, Chech, AKC Registrations and others I'm not sure of (which is LSOH studbook ?). Most in generations since = American.

Have not yet looked at earlier ancestry but I suspect more of the same, and given lack of numbers of import/export between the UK and the US, no English connection likely.

And yes, strictly 'pet' breeding, there's not a one I recognise the names or kennel of.

OP I think you might find little of record in either Show or Working breeding on any of these dogs to indicate they had been bred with either world in mind, just produced to satisify the companion dog market.

ADDED:  But as Doc says, don't let that lack of purposeful breeding put you off, have  a great time with your girl and get as far as you can in whatever activities you choose - she may be full of surprises !  Have fun, good luck.

Thanks, everyone! I had her spayed, so it's not like she was going to be the foundation of some fabulous breeding stock, even if she had awesome lines. I'm just looking to learn more. I appreciate all of your help!
