Well I got a letter from AC stating that they received a complaint about excessive barking.  My dogs are house dogs and I do let them go out in the back when I am home.  Yes they do bark but ONLY when they see someone/something.

Behind my house is a walking path and field so you see people walking.  You also have people walking their dogs on & off leash.  As we all know off leash is against the law but they still do it.  My 2 dogs 2 yrs old and 6 months old bark at them.

Its not like they bark late at night.  It is in the afternoon when I get home from work while they are out.  I am trying to think of another way to handle this other than "kiss my ass".  Whole community is filled with barking dogs.  Of course you see 2 german shepherds in my yard running the fence.

I don't want to do bark collars especially since my 2 yr old is a PPD and my 6 month old will be training for SchH.  Any suggestions?

send a  nice letter back to them explaining your situation, that your dogs are house dogs and only outside when you are home, that they are barking when they see people, which is what you want them to do (alert you to people around the property).

Look at your township or county ordinances and see if there is a barking ordinance, or noise ordinance that mentions barking - see if you are violating it.  If you are not, or if there isn't an ordinance, AC can't do anything except inform you that there are complaints.

if it becomes an ongoing problem, then perhaps consider a privacy fence.

 Ace ,

I had a similar situation here. I have 6 GSD and 15 acres. Well I have 1 neighbor who complains when the dogs bark and I also recieved a letter from the town. What I did was invited them to my property to see where they are housed and so on. I told them i would put the dogs out no earlier than 8:am and have them put away by 8 PM that made the town happy and that was it. i think if you go to the town or call them to come to your place. Show them where the people walk and explain the hours you are letting them out.

Towns dont want nusience barking which means constant barking for hours. Dosen't sound like your dogs are a nusiance, so explain it to them and you should be ok.

Good Luck
