Entwerfer Haus

by Entwerfer Haus on 26 October 2019 - 07:10

I had to put my male down last year and, after many attempts and much finances trying to find another suitable male, I ended up going across the pond. I'm pretty happy with Max (DDR), he needs a bit of work, but worth the effort. I am a very small, discreet breeder who has owned primarily DDR dogs for nearly 18 years. However, breeders have pretty much extinguished their true nature, build and soundness so much, that I am losing faith in obtaining what I'm looking for.

...or, you have to stand on your head and do jumping jacks to get full rights to the dog. Unfortunately, I have to work for a living and being single, trying to rebuild this program and maintain my home, etc. leaves little room for outside activities. I'm working with Max all the time, at my pace. My path will be slower than their expectations, but when I retire I will be able to flourish in the working field.

I have a fair amount of pups in the working field, from seeing eye to search and rescue.

In 2021 I will finally be moving to the county (country living) and be able to construct a nice training area and, at the very least, start my own training in obedience and rally. I've been stockpiling the gear/equipment.

After much thought and consideration, I think I will be semi-moving to WGWL dogs. I have always been against mixing GSD, because I truly believe they each have their place in this breed. However, I do feel that WGWL will work the best with DDR, but that's just my opinion. I'm always open to feedback.

With all of that being said, I am looking for a solely WGSL female. Black, very, very dark bi-color or sable that carries the black gene. I have a bunch of info about the history of the WGWL dogs (as I did with the DDR) and I will be educating myself on the lineage. I do not need the dog of hard knocks, but I would [obviously] like a pup that is solid of mind and structure, because I have people just waiting in the back round for a pup. I do not advertise much and you'll never see me advertise pups on PDB, because I have a nice network following.

I do not [normally] sell to breeders (this may change as I my dogs become proven) and all my pups are under contract with a spay/neuter and first rights of refusal, so there's no chance of some yahoo getting a pup.

Please save all the nasty comments for someone else.

I would greatly appreciate any credible information I can get related to reputable WGWL breeders.

Thank you in advance

I think you meant WGWL female in this sentence?

Are you going to be combining the WGWL with your DDR line?   If so, then you may want to consider a female that is line-bred on WGWL dogs, therefore her genetics will be predictable and more-or-less 'set' before you outcross.    Good luck with your future move and program.    Sounds like you have a plan and are doing your research and self-education, so you should be able to accomplish your goals no problem.   Thumbs Up

not mean to discourage you or to rain on your parade but it looks like base of your perception is wrong to begin with.
training in itself is not the means of improving the dog. it's just a tool to see and test dog's potential for certain purposes/tasks,
regardless of training environment (training facility vs. average backyard) and availability or lack of time.
the less favorable conditions and shorter timelaps to achieve desirable goals in fact does prove innate qualities of given dog.
next step would be to see if that dog is potent enough to pass own qualities to descendants, regardless dog been titled or not.
outcome depend on ability of breeders to be honest to themselves.

@ Koots: Yes, thank you! I did mean WGWL. I was only working off of 1 cup of java yesterday morning. I apologize for the miss-type and I can not edit anymore.

I appreciate the input. I will definitely look for nice line-breeding. I'm researching every day, but I have only found 2 breeders that even remotely carry the dogs I'm looking for. I'm hoping, with time, a couple breeders will reach out.

Max is a really nice guy (great structure, temperament and health) and yes, I'll be going across the pond for a female. However, I would really like to explore this next avenue.

@ ValK:  I appreciate your input.  You're not raining on my parade!

If you are a member or have access to a sport club in your area, then establishing contacts with people can lead to fruitful networking.

I think these people breed West German working line, you can check the pedigrees to be sure, and they are active and successful in schutzhund
Hoehenluft German Shepherds (on facebook)
