We use these collars on our two gsd, they have high drive and fearful of other dogs. We find a better control using the dominant collar, rather than the flat collar & prong collar. See Leerberg website to purchase them and to find out how to use them.

DO THEY WORK LIKE A CHOKE COLLAR?
by jamesfountain98 on 30 January 2011 - 15:01
I don't have a pic but I use a collar similiar to that but it has a leather tab that keeps the collar in position (upper neck/head) I like this collar over the regular choke collar because it stays in position like a prong, you can give quick, hard corrections like a prong but it is not as abbrassive. I use this collar for my high drive shepherd (for both correction and pressure)nand my much softer dutch (just pressure)

Yes on the same lines as a choke chain but fits tighter and high up on the dogs neck. Theres no slack like the choke collar, and you dont check like the choke collar. Just tighten and relax. You lift the dog up rather than to the side. very effective. Linda

This collar is designed to cut off your dogs air supply...i put one on my girl with her prong collar in training in case my prong comes off. I don't have to use it for aggressive behavior...it takes the drive out of the dog when used properly!

Strange... when using mine it is pressure point and proper locartion without adjusting, NOT cutting off air supply.

Hi All,
There is a big difference between a dominant dog and a dog that is aggressive based on fear.
It is easy to make a mistake judging between the two. (unless you know a real good dog trainer)
Having a dominant dog that is handler aggressive takes it to another level.
A good trainer (FOR REAL) can accomplish more in ten minutes than your average dog person can in months of time buying stuff, watching videos, trying various methods, web research, clubs, etc...
(been there - done that)
All I can say about this collar is:
If you have a dominant dog that is handler aggressive - a prong collar can make it worse, a choke or regular collar does nothing except does not allow your dog to get away, this collar will allow you to not piss off your dog with a prong while maintaining control for the moment. As far as the dog is concerned - kiss my as_ with your praise and food. Ever have a dog want to chomp you, (ME) for expecting control?
After all of the situations are gone - your dog is the same.
A good trainer will know if you need an e-collar, etc...
If you want results - find a good trainer.
(check out his or her dogs)
hehe - in hindsight - a dog like this can kick as_ if you know what to do. (BY FAR!)
A true fear biter - another topic.
Did I mention? : find a GOOD trainer! (ok a great trainer)
It's worth the drive or MPG.
Good luck - no great luck - no way - find a REAL trainer! (like Rolando!)

No one is duscussing if a dog is domininant in order to use this collar. It is actually the name of a collar that is made to order to fit snug under the dog's jaw and not enough slack to lay lower on the neck. They are not saying you should use this collar on a dominant dog it is the collar called a dominant dog collar as the sales name by I believe Leerburg?
