Hi.
This is the last post about Leon. We had to put him to sleep yesterday afternoon (2018/12/18) at the veterinary hospital. He had got agressive cancer in his spleen - one of three tumors was bleeding into his abdominal, slowly killing him.
I have put up every "year-picture" in his page here. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=585875-hornemarks-leon
I will take away his pedigree information the last of january 2019.
Best regards Torgny

The older they become, the better the relationship.
But, please, don't take away his pedigree information, so people are able to find him and his pedigree in the future.
He is part of the breed... (and a very good looking part...).
Best regards
Susie

I second Susie’s remark...please think about keeping the pedigree with the photos here...He is a part of the rich history of the breed now.
I can’t tell you how many hours I have spent looking at pdb photos, all across the 120 year history...and am always glad when there are comments about a dog and more than one photo.
Run free Leon of the soulful eyes....

So sorry for your loss!
Very handsome boy! His linebreeding is very similar to one of my own females, who will be 12 in January. Actually, your dog and mine were born the same year, though she has Ursus as a grandfather. Ursus certainly produced some very nice looking dogs!
Hemangiosarcoma is such a horrible disease!
One of the reasons a database like this exists is it helps people make decisions re. breeding. Diseases that have shown up in the bloodline are important to know about, so I'd leave the pedigree up, and mention in the comments what caused his death.
There have been no genetic links found yet for hemangio, BUT it is more common in the GSD than in some other breeds, and maybe someday they will figure out why. And your dog's death might be an important part of figuring that out. You just never know...
