I have 2 GSD's. One old female who is always shedding, and a solid black male who does his share of spreading his hair everywhere.
I need something that does a really good job but is more lightweight than my old Dyson. I have a bad back and am just too old to push anything heavy around much. I have cleaning people come in and clean every 2 weeks, so I just need something that I can use in between cleans. I need the best light weight sweeper for dog hair. I welcome all suggestions, but it would have to be something that I can order online.

I should have added that I need it for low-pile carpets only.

I have a Eureka canister with floor attachment works pretty good but the small bag fills up with hair fast.
I then used my husbands 5 gallon shop vac just to big for a small house so bought a 2 gallon shop vac and love it for all the hair and every thing else it picks up and holds a lot.
Keep it light weight use the smaller vac hose not that huge one.
Noisy but easy to use.
Wanted to add you will love the price of the shop vac

You might want something like that for the main part of the hair...

Don't know if you have the "shark" lineup of vacuums, but some of them are very lightweight and do a decent job on carpet and linoleum/tile. We had this one:
The downside to this product is that it may not last as long as a more expensive unit, but you could buy at least 2 of these for the price of a Dyson.

It must be lightweight and no muss no fuss in handling it. I checked out the Miele, and the one that fit what I wanted was $549.00 A bit too high for intermittent cleanings. I think a shop Vac would be too clumsy for me. I have trouble bending over, so I am not sure that I could work with a canister.
My cleaning people use a Shark, and while it does not do as good a job as my Dyson, it is very lightweight. Does anyone know what the best Shark model would be for dog hair? The one that Koots recommended does have a pet hair tool, but that is probably for furniture.
I like the Dyson because you don't have to keep changing Pads/bags. You just empty the container. I would prefer something like that.
Guess that I should have stated all of this in my first post.

I like my Kenmore bagless canister. Best vacuum that I have owned so far. We have hardwood and tile but do have some throw rugs.
