It's unusual/rare because it's been 32 years since the Deutsche Demokratische Republik ceased to exist. So any "all DDR" dogs only exist because some few breeders felt it important to preserve the bloodlines.

Along the way, the DDR dogs have combined with many other bloodlines to produce many great working dogs--but then their progeny are no longer 100% DDR.

Pharaoh is 100% DDR but that is becoming very tricky.  The bloodlines are narrowing and it is becoming too distilled.

I would recommend www.justk9s.com/.   I don't know how long she can stay 100% DDR.  She imported two females for harmonius pedigrees.  I know Kim is very particular about pedigrees and conformation and temperament and doesn't like narrowing the gene pool.

Who knows how long it can last.

Michelle I agree with you about Kim and if I were in the market for a DDR dog I would certainly contact her.  One of the problems I see--remember this is JMO--is that people again are all out for the dollar bill and not breeding lines that compliment each other.  Sort of like you got a DDR (AKC) dog--so do I, let's breed them and get registered pups and make gazillions of money.  And I think it's very sad that a great line of dogs is going to go down...................JMO...

The DDR dogs are beautiful dogs. I use to own a DDR female. I ended up giving her to my mom (who had just lost her old dog) as she didnt work out for SchH. Unfortunantly the DDR dogs are diminishing....kinda like the Czech dogs. ( I have Czech dogs now). I feel that the die hard DDR breeders are trying to keep the lines going, not sure if it will happen or not. As Michele said, the gene pool is very small now. Unless something is done soon it will dwindle down to nothing...SAD SAD SAD!

As for DDR breeder... Just K9s (Kim) is a good one she has nice DDR dogs. There is also Schraderhaus and Vom Banach who are both in Washington. There is also a DDR breeder on the east coast but I do not remember her name.
Another person to talk to would be Hans on this site. He deals mostly in Czech dogs but should have some great contacts and information about the DDR dogs too.
