hi :) . i have a male gsd pup - which is 12 month old [ allmost 1 year ] . got him from a well repsected kennel in germany .
his ears were post when he was 6 m/o for about 6 weeks . since then they are erect and correct . [all his sibeling from same litter are ok in terms of ears ]
my question \ problem is : when he is running they flip over and not stable . when he is in full alart the right ear tends to be over the center . i must mention that this situation is getting better day by day and i see a lot of improvment ...
will it be ok ? is there anything to do in order to stable them . ?
just to note - he is a large male - now 66 cm/ strong head.. and huge ears :)
pls give me your thoughts or advices ...

Chewing, as Bee suggests, may well help, and all might
turn out ok, if his ear muscles strengthen enough. It
really isn't unusual, especially with dogs with larger heads,
for ears to be top heavy in this way.
But ... to an extent, 'soft' ears are genetic; and you may
have to reconcile yourself to the knowledge that they
COULD stay soft always - i.e. they won't actually drop,
but may never be rock solid, straight upright, and will always
move around a bit when the dog is gaiting. He can still be a
great dog and a good German SHEPHERD, but it probably
won't enhance his chances if you want to Show him !
Curious as to why his ears were posted as a 6 mth pup, I
presume they were slow to go up and looked worrying then ?
Just IMHO, posting is often a waste of time, ears that are going to be erect will be - in their own time, as the youngster grows - and ears that are soft or drop stay soft or drop. If anything, I sometimes think taping can interfere with & worsen natural muscle development.

To your question "hundmutter" he was so correct and well formed in terms of anatomy so they didnt want to take the chance.. they did say his ears were up before teething and i do agree that even though posting did speedup the process they would go up eventually on their own with better result..
As i said it does getting better and stable with time.. just needed some reasurence
... other then this he is a perfect boy..Love him
