Bundishep

Joanro if you are fine with breeders burning people thats your choice maybe if you are ever on the other end of things you might see things differantly, breeders should stand behind what they produce and if they dont then they should never be breeding in the first place. None of this was jyl,s fault in anyway shape or form,Jyl did not ask me to stick up for her,I just hate to see this type of thing happen to me,Jyl or anyone else that has ever purchased a dog.

I'm sending Jyl a PM as I have some familiarity with this condition and it's limitations (or not).

Bundishep, I asked you how it would change your life knowing what the end result is. I also said it's noone's business, that what you are inquiring is not the op's intention for posting the thred. Has nothing to do with breeders, has to do with her dog's medical condition. If you don't believe me, ask her.

by joanro on 18 November 2014 - 22:11

BTW, bundishep, you didn't answer my questions.

Joan so your saying no ones business, are you kidding me its a public forum its everyones business and it shows to the public who the honest- fair breeders are and where they are not,how many people would ever buy a pup from Steve again if they see how he hasnt  been fair to Jyl and if he  feels he has been fair then he can plead his own case and let every reader judge for themselves,if Jyl thinks I,m out of line for trying to help each side come together and resovle matters she can let me know and I will respect her wishes,I have just as much right with my own veiws as you do yours so lets just leave it at that.

Bundishep, not my views, but Jyl's. She told me herself that it's not why she started the thred....no one's business, it's sticking one's nose in someone else's business. Bundishep, why don't you contact Jyl personally?

For the record, Bundishep, I  would have [CORRECTION EDIT]: NO qualms about buying a puppy from OGBS if I were in the market for one and I expected the breeding to produce what I was seeking--regardless of whether it was a duplication of Ice's litter, or from either of Ice's parents, without hesitation. From where I sit, communication between the parties when they were attempting to discuss the situation became clouded with emotion, and things went off the rails at that point. Example: Jyl mentions that OGBS requested Ice be tested for Lyme disease, which she seems to have heard as him not believing what she was seeing, as it would be impossible for Ice to have contracted the disease because he was kept on heartworm preventative all the time [paraphrasing here]. Heartworm preventative has NOTHING to do with protecting the dog against Lyme, because none of the products have any effect on ticks, and Lyme is referred to in the medical field as "the Great Pretender" because it can manifest by affecting such a wide swath of systems within an infected individual, including the joints--but when one's dog is having health issues and the owner is trying their best to investigate all the options, sometimes any theories floated by someone else, especially the breeder, sounds like they're questioning the owner's efforts and experiences.

Allergies are tricky son-a-beeches, and food allergies are especially difficult, because they can actually be created where there initially were none, if an inflamed GI tract is exposed to foods that are more complex in structure than the system can handle at that precise moment; it's one of the reasons for the recommendation to fast a dog for 24 hours and then feed a bland, simple and highly bio-available diet for several days after the dog has experienced significant diarrhea. It is impossible for me to know the precise origin of Ice's GI difficulties, just as it will likely be impossible to ever know of he has allergies that are hereditary or acquired, since the former has its own timetable as to when it will reveal itself, and with the latter it generally happens without anyone's awareness or knowledge.

It is my fervent hope that Ice's situation stabilizes, a definitive reason for the 'hitch' in his movement is identified and is something that is correctable, and he is able to go forward and actually take part in the activities Jyl originally had in mind for him to begin with. If those things can't be achieved, then equally as satisfactory, IMO, is that he be able to enjoy an excellent quality of life as an active and loved pet...because on any given day, every sport-dog and every law enforcement dog is a single injury or illness away from being solely that cherished companion, and if that isn't considered valuable enough there's much wrong with this world.

I was beginning to think you had lost ALL sence of reason in that original post, lol.

It absolutely blows! It sucks when a dog develops antibodies/ allergies.
I was actually the one who suggested testing for lymes. It seamed like a reasonable quick test to eliminate a potential culprit. Sorry it created such a distrust.

I wasn't involved in the Ice stuff, but in this thread, I suggested Lyme also. It's a logical "what if."
