So a dog that isn't a superior worker, isn't deserving of affection? It's not a dogs fault if it doesn't have the health or genetics to work. If you really feel that way, I'd suggest you find another hobby that doesn't involve an animal.

Boy talking about a post going south, hello,  WTF.

How do I make this clear...

I dont need suggestions from internet forum jockeys like yourselves about how I source my dogs.  I own and train working dogs for a reason and its not because I need a living breathing teddy bear.  These are WORKING dogs, if they cant WORK they are of no use to me.  I realize that people like you will happily give a home to sub par stock.  Thats great, many breeders rely on such homes to sell their "working" dogs too.

If I buy a dog for IPO or PP then the dog will preform said function or I will find a better home were the animal will be appreciated.  If I buy a pup it will be from someone that guarentees health and temperment.  I make no bones about those two items, if the dog is not up to standard the breeder will honor their contract and I will obtain a replacement.

Its a pup not a robot, I understand that.  I also understand unlike many on here that even the "best" breeders produce shitters or dogs capable of no more then pet companionship.  I understand that going in hence why I am REALISTIC and dont become emotionally invested in a prospect that may or may not pan out.

As for feeling sorry for my doggies thats very nice of you, Im sure they appreciate it.

I have an idea I will post some training vids of the poor abused puppies that I have here and you post vids of your dogs training...;).  Lets compare their expression.

By the way..green trained is practically an oxymoron.  A green dog should have little to no training on it.

My apologies to the OP for having replied to a post that lead this thread off-topic; I should have just let the inane comment pass without remark.

So, back on topic, I will simply reiterate, I feel badly for all who are directly or tangently involved, and most of all for the dog, who isn't going to get to have quite as active a life as he was bred to enjoy.

I hope this all gets settled,if Steve is offering half the cost and Jyl keeps the dog that seems very fair or if Steve offered full refund and dog returned thats very fair offer also,Steve should not be on the hook for vet bills,it,s too much out of his hands as its unknown if Drago or his female had this in the genes, hopefully it was only a one in a million chance of ever happening again, perhaps a rare gene mutation from Sire or Dam................ to Jyl if you havent given up on a super litter out of Drago ready to go soon last I heard there are unsold males in that litter and they should go to  excellent working homes and I know Jyl can provide that, jyl pm me if your interested in contact info,Jyl has done an excellent job in taking care of her boy.

How does anyone know any problem her dog has is even genetic. TV is congenital, not known how or if it is passed on genetically, last I read . And she said the vets don't even know the cause of his lameness. As for allergies, they can and are often environmentally induced, and I don't remember reading anywhere that the vets said his allergies are genetic in nature?
Bundishep, did you mean to say that a genetic problem that can be specifically attributed to the male or female of a litter and which ever parent is responsible, the owner of said parent is to pay vet bills of affected offspring ? Boy would that put a crunch on availability of stud dogs if that was the case. Lol

It sounds to me thats it highly likey the problem is genetic but as rare as it sounds probably going to be imposible to trace it back to Sire or Dam,I,m sure jyl and her vets know more about it than anyone, maybe some light will be shed on it down the road and lets keep our fingers crossed no more cases show up out of either dog down the road.

I still havent heard any  final solution has been reached between breeder and owner, seems to me both partys could be happy and resolved if half purchase price refunded to Jyl,kind of a give and take on both sides, then perhaps both partys can be happy about the unfortunate rare case of Ice and it can be a happy ending for all and Ice stays in a  loving home with Jyl.To me its fully understandable why Jyl wants to go with diff. lines on the next go around and not get a replacement pup.If that was jyl,s only option in the contract, sometimes contracts have to be torn up and altered to make things work for both partys.

Bundeshep., how will knowing any of that make your life better? And how will the exchange of funds make anyone "happy" about a dog's medical problems? Non of that was intended by the op to be anyone's business. Why keep bringing it up?
