I *think* I see where a possible TV is but it's behind the "wing" of the pelvis in this shot and hard to see. Am I right, Jyl? Is that where it is? Again, small pic. Hard to see. My eyes are not the best.

Not for nothing, but dogs with TV are at increased risk of developing cauda equina syndrome, which CAN be alleviated surgically, and that condition in its earliest stages most definitely CAN affect the dog's gait, since it is an impingement of the nerve bundle [the nerve bundle itself is called the cauda equina, Latin for 'tail of the horse', due to it's shape] that passes through dog's pelvis and results in what amounts to a full-time canine version of sciatica that gets progressively worse if left uncorrected.

It would be worth a neuro consult to see if this may be something that can be addressed so if nothing else, you can be assured Ice won't be having any discomfort.

In all fairness, we all need to remember that these kind of things are BREED issues, not issues that are isolated occurances involving a single breeder, or a single stud dog or brood bitch or bloodline...and sometimes, the shuffle of the genetic cards does not favor one pup out of a litter through no one's fault at all. Nature is a heartless bitch who can be capricious when she wishes to be.

I feel badly for all parties involved, as the disappointment is surely shared all around.

Edited to add:  I absolutely can understand why Jyl would turn down a 'replacement' pup or dog, even when there's no demand to relinquish the dog she has--and I'd likely be of the same mind were I to find myself in a similar situation...when the heartache is big enough, it's hard to return to the same well, regardless of whether that's logical or not. I also see these things from the viewpoint of a breeder in such circumstances: you test for everything you can, you try to stack the deck in favor of the pups when selecting a pairing because there's still so much stuff we CAN'T test for, and you pray the fates smile on the litter when the genetic hands are dealt...but the amount of control that is actually in the hands of the breeder is markedly limited.

You are correct.

Enjoying yourself on GSD Round Table?

Disreputable and a liar?

Hmmm...........

I wonder how I should handle this?

by Darcy on 05 November 2014 - 03:11

After having a dog with IgA deficiency, I would test this dog for that, if he has not yet been tested for that.

Well, Steve, I would NOT handle it by dragging it here, wherever it originated! Roll eyes

How is it that I would be "dragging it here?"

It was already dragged here by the originator of this thread.

I don't even know what Round Table is. Forgive me for making the point that perhaps everyone doesn't feel like reading "he said, she said" drama on the regular forum and that Jyl hadn't said anything about you at all, prior to your entrance. I thought there was an interesting and potentially helpful discussion going on (remember, this is about a young dog in poor health) before you chimed in with your side of answers no one asked for and then got Gary to come and dislike the posts that were posted by unbiased folks trying to be helpful and like all your posts. Really looks petty, boys.

Wow, at lunch break from court today.

I see the self-professed internet queen has spoken. All hail!

First of all, this is none of your business! You have nothing to do with this, so, how about staying out of it???

Five or six years ago when we decided to no longer be friends you asked me to stay out of your business. Which I have done. How about you return the favor and do the same???

As for Gary, I haven't contacted him in something like two months. I will gladly let anyone go through my phone records, text message records and email records to prove so. Only someone as childish and petty as you would think that I would contact Gary to have him come here and "like" my posts. Only you would think of it because it's a childish ploy you have used for years. I, personally, couldn't care less whether anyone likes or dislikes my posts on this forum or any other. I don't live my life on the internet, nor seek the approval of those who do!

As for why I posted here. First, it is my right. Second, I was contacted by several people about this and after reading several of the posts, for instance like from your chief supporter, Blitzen, making accusations towards me. I felt that I needed to respond before this turned in to let's bash the breeder post. There is much more that I could have posted and probably should have in response to finding out about the bashing going on over on the other forum. So far, I have chosen not to because it will only look bad for others and start involving other people where some feelings are going to get hurt or so called "friendships" possiby destroyed.

This whole post, just like the other one on the other forum was created for the purposes of attention and drama.

Roll eyes

LOL- you've stayed out of my business?! We "use to be friends"? Oh geez...both good laughs, not sure which is funnier.

Newsflash, most of us had no idea who bred Ice!!! Considering it's your A litter, is it not believable that maybe no one knew until you came blustering into the thread?! This was a thread about Ice! Not a breeder thread! It IS my business, and my right, as it's anyone else's, to respond to what is posted on a public, international forum. I chose to respond to this one, as I typically respond to health threads, as health topics are of great interest to me.

Personally, I had no idea who bred Ice. I never asked who bred him. I am not a Drago fan whatsoever, therefore took zero interest in his pups, and have plenty on my plate to worry about, so I paid no attention. I just tried to help Jyl figure out what was wrong with her puppy because I'm actually rather good at solving complex digesting issues sometimes and know a good bit about diet. Jyl and I talked privately via email and you didn't come up, EVER! It was all about the dog!  I don't care about you, never did, never will. I have always cared about dogs and I always will. End of story.

Get over it- she didn't even say anything negative about you until you ran onto the stage screaming. I'm out. Jyl can email me if she has further questions about what we've discussed and you can carry on as you wish. No need to worry about Ice.
