Hi all,

Quick background to my question: my dog had OCD shoulder surgery when he was 6 months (Sept), and was then diagnosed with pano in Dec. The pano limp went away after about 2 weeks. He just turned one last week. Hes been really good lately. Yesterday he developed a very serious limp in the right foreleg, which is the surgery leg. Do not know how or why. There was nothing out of the ordinary while we were around, but he was left out while we were at work (limited to the kitchen/living areas). I HAVE scheduled a followup with his surgeon this coming Wed. I gave him half a rimadyl for pain.

Does anyone know if bully sticks could contribute to pano? I know it sounds silly, but if it is an influx of protein/calcium could it possibly result in an occurence of pano? I have just been trying to think of what has been the same/different when these limps came on, and he had bully sticks around both times (they are not an everyday thing).

Has anyone heard of OCD returning once operated on?

Any ideas?

PS haven't posted in a while but had posted about growling at kids/strangers/dogs, which has since subsided with outside guidance.

I give my dogs bully sticks religiously as puppies but I've never had a dog with pano.

Okay, well I guess it was worth a shot asking, just wondering...wish I knew what was going on! Very frustrating seeing your dog hurt and nothing seems to "fix" it.

Pano happens in humans too and i'm pretty sure no one is giving their children bully sticks. But paono is one of this weird freaky internial things we hvae no control over. One of my agility friend's labs got Pano at 6 years old. Seems soemthing moved, greaw something but it cause a dead spot in the bone marrow. Which is what leads to the pain.
I've never given my dog a bully stick. But i also have a breed where pano is not very common. (American Bulldog)
Give it time to fix itself. I know it sucks in the mean time, sure did for my little sister when she got it too!

Never heard of Pano. being caused by any single element of
feeding ... but I have heard of young onset / sudden onset of
arthritis, following joint surgery.   Hope that isn't the case here !
Could he have ricked the shoulder somehow while you were out
(ie does he counter-surf in your kitchen ?) - if so it could just be
a soft-tissue injury which will recover with rest.  Good luck.
