The tropic mentioned dog Ballack von der Brucknerallee has no progeny  ,can it be a VA?

Actually, I looked him up last night. He does have a litter at Vom Marketal, he's been bred with Joy von Santamar earlier this year. This is all I could find. He's owned by Von Santamar kennels. The litter announcement was for earlier this year. That is all I could find.

Yes, He's VA, Leo Zenteiche too. Both to young to have a group and less than 3.5 years old. Ballack with a 5/5 performance on the field.

If you recall, there was some discussion about changing the requirements for VA to preclude any male without a group or under 3.5 years old. If those had been implemented these males would not have attained VA status.

What would have happened if the rules were in place? These rising stars who from what I can tell are very popular from many respects, would have been legislated to the V category and their potential not recognized in their rating.

Randy, what is the implication for an entry from a county outside Germany regarding a progeny group?  I can't imagine a US competitor hauling all those progeny entries across the pond for this show.  It seems that it would be cost prohibitive.  Easy to assemble in Germany, not so outside that country.  If a progeny group is mandatory for VA status it would appear that it is heavily slanted toward German entries.  Your thoughts?

Judy,

No doubt. The German Sieger Show is truly an International event but in reality it's a German event. I don't see a problem with that. We are talking about German Shepherds after all. I really don't think it's possible for a male outside of Germany or close neighboring country to be competitive for a VA rating. The logistics would be too great for most. The dog would basically need to be in Germany. Bear in mind the VA group is not a surprise. The dogs are typically top 25 in the youth/young dog classes. Breeders prime the pump by using the up and coming young dogs. The owners of the males solicit the females they thing will work for their males. As these offspring are born, word travels quick on how the litters are looking. More females, more puppies, soon the offspring are old enough to show and they have been in a few clubs. The reputation of a particular male develops as the promise of the offspring unfolds.

By the time the sieger show rolls around, the offspring have been shown enough to see the patterns. The young promising males enter the VA group as the previous young males prove their ability to produce and remain in the group.

To integrate a male from the US into this system is basically impossible. You would need to do what was done with Karat's Ulk. Get them to Germany as a young male and let them integrate into the culture at a young age.

Thia is the super dog!  He does not need a placement in the VA group.  He has it all.
