Hello all, I'm asking if any of you have recently, say in the last 3 months, has shipped an adult GSD from Europe into the USA, and if so what were the shipping costs. I'm considering importing another adult male so wonder what the approx current shipping charges will be. he would be flying from Germany on a direct flight into Chicago, Il. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The last quote I got was a little over $1700 and about $1100 to go and get it. It is cheaper to fly over pick it up and fly it back with you.

Two months ago I inquired about the shipping costs of an adult GSD from Slovakia to Chicago,I was told it was 850 € / 1130 USD/ including the picking of the dog at my friend´s house /about 500 km to his house and back to the airport in Košice/. It should be definitely a little bit cheaper from Frankfurt.

Three months ago I paid Euro 864.05 net for a 10 week puppy, picked up at the breeder, then from Frankfurt to Seattle. Because the pup did not work out, I got an estimate from the same shipping company to be shipped back to the breeder from Seattle for Euro 4,730.00 net, not typo.

Man I see a business opportunity here to have a dog person fly over inspect the dog pay for it and bring it back if found worthy vs paying having it shipped with no dog people around after it is given to the airline and getting whatever someone sends you and ending up with a 5k dog who barks at its shadow.
Flights to Berlin in September are $928. Someone could charge $1500 -2k and go get the dog cover airfare and hotel in Germany and make a couple bucks.
I am in for that trip.

i had a 11 week old puppy ship to me from germany to chicago in may, it cost me 500Euro, plus chicago charged another $45 for handling fee.
now i have had quotes from germany for an adult female and would cost about 1200 euros,~ $1600 US dollars which is crazy, compare that to 3 years ago when i got a large adult female that only cost 650 Euros.~ $800 US
yes it would be great if they had someone that could bring over a few dogs at a time and can save some $$$$$$$$$$$$

Last month, Frankfurt to LAX female GSD 1160 euro including a large crate with purchase from Pet-Air. Same price back in March too. A male will be more than that.

You would have to use a totally different person for each trip and each POE, or US Customs would figure it out in a hurry and say they were brokers or dog traffickers:-)
