I have a question that I cant find an answer to. I have always had GSD all types never once did I keep a record of there height growth. I have thus done it with my newest addition Django. He was exactly 21 in(53.5cm) at the shoulder a day shy of 5 months. Which leads to my question. How much taller do they get from 5 months. How tall do you think he will be.

HT: 21 in @ withers
WT: 50.4 lbs

As far as I know there is no solid connection between a dog's
height at 5 (or 6, whatever) months and its eventual height.  It
will either finish ON the Standard,  or it won't - ie it'll stop short,
or go too tall.  Dogs are individuals and they vary.  Including the rate
they grow at.  The point of having a Breed Standard for a breed of dog
is that you know things like the height range it is MEANT to end up in
for that breed.  Since that isn't ONE fixed figure, but a span from 24" to
26" /  62.5 cm with plus or minus 2.5 cm allowed, depending on how it
is described in whichever version of the Standard you are using [in the
case of GSD males], sorry but I don't see there being a fixed growth-rate
for the next six months or so, like you seem to be looking for.
All I can say is Django would appear to be a normal height for his age,
and (give or take an inch) should end up somewhere around 25 inches
wither-height unless you get unlucky !

I always figured around a year old would give the closest representative of where the dog would truly end up. with a little room for height and then thicken up.
but i feel different dogs and different lines mature quicker than others in this regard. as dogs tend to grow in spurts just lke any other species i have never had
anyone tell me with consistency an exact size or height of a dog through puppyhood to adult.

if someone can I would greatly appreciate it. and would listen with open ears myself.

At the National seiger show in Nashville, Ten, the judges critique of my then six month old GSL male, was that he was going to be very small, so not breed able. The dog ended up being over sized. So nobody, not even the "experts", can predict where your dog will end up in size.
