Hello everyone. I'm inquiring if anyone had imported an adult female show gsd for breeding from Hungary or serbia: i want to know how to go about it. Any idea or expirience? Thanx in advance.

Serbia or Hungary for Showline? Really? That's news to me.

I would advise you to do "loads" of research FIRST.
I believe more than one thread has been put up here about being robbed from Hungary.

I have imported a bitch from Hungary. She is a working line bitch though. It was no different than importing from any other country. I made sure that I knew exactly who I was dealing with and that the person was trustworthy. The transaction went very smoothly and I am very pleased with the bitch I purchased.

Beetree.... why is that so surprising to you? I have a buddy who imports all his dogs from hungary. Ive seen 2 showlines from there that are now dual purpose k9. I mean after all. Hungarybis not very far from germany. :-) And a FRACTION of the price... lol

LOL, well, frankly, I am now extra-super, impressed!

I figured as much. It dont take much to impress pdb junkies. lol

LOL, I guess I am busted.
I am still working on my Ph.D in PDB. I am determined to make it, no matter how long it takes me. I've come a long way since my faith in the AKC version of the GSD was downright shattered.

Beetree,
Why not import a show line type GSD from Serbia?
Yes, as with anywhere you have to watch for crooks and false advertising. You have to find a trustworthy breeder over there whom you can trust....research, research, research.
However when it comes to show line GSD's in Serbia, they are actually quite well and nice. Not to mention usually decent pricing (compared to other parts of the GSD world).
As a matter of fact the BSZS 2012 JKLR Sieger (SG1) is a dog bred and raised in Serbia from Serbian kennel.

Original poster, if its not a secret, what kennel are you trying to deal with in Serbia?

There are bred good dogs - showlines and working lines...
The main problem might be that not all of the Eastern European breeders stick to the German rules ( proof of ancestry/DNA - proof of correct HD/ED results - breeding of untitled dogs...)
You need to do your homework - I´d ask at least for videos showing the dogs "working" and as much written and documented proof as possible.
For a lot of people living in the "former USSR" the money out of one sold dog is more than they earn during one year in their job...
Again - do your homework - there are good dogs out there.
