I'm going through that now too. I have already gotten a couple of shopping bags full (saving that to put around my garden) and it looks like I'll get a couple more. There is no end to it.

This is when a groomer comes in handy, you pay a little cash and we get to bath, blow dry and comb/brush all that stuff out of your lovely dogs coat! And you don't have to dispose of any hair!
Or invest in a small power blower, some good quality shampoo, and a nice slicker brush. And don't forget a dust mask! and goggles!

The groomers refuse to bath my dog! What a bunch of sissies.
They will kennel him when I travel but won't give him a bath. I don't complain, because just kenneling my dog is enough of a pain in the ass for them. I give them a lot of credit for just dealing with him at all, definitely their least favorite of all the dogs they board. They do a really good job with the boarding, so I let them slide on not bathing him.

No, beagles shed, shepherds completely, utterly and most annoyingly, lose at least 80% of their coat, 80% of the year. But we love them anyways, ... go figure.
