Hello everyone,
It's been a few months since my last post but I finally made a decision and got Asko from Birgit (Bhall) at Alert K9. You can read more about the research I did to find the Breeder/Dealer that I wanted to work with at this link: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/forum.read?mnr=680886-a-noobs-guidejourney-to-a-personal-protection-gsd
A quick refresher for those who kept up with my search, I flew to a few States and saw some dogs and one locally and landed on Alert K9 they were not the first or last Breeder/Dealer I met with but in the end I felt that Birgit, Jon and Mike had mine and the dogs best interest at heart and I was right. When I first met them I saw about 6-7 dogs that I asked to take a closer look at them I narrowed those down to three then two. HERE is where Alert K9 went above and beyond; I couldn't decide between the last two. They were both pups 8 and 7 months old Birgit put BOTH dogs on hold!
I don't care what business you're in, taking two products off the shelf knowing that you will only be selling one and missing out on other potential buyers is just crazy! But they did it and I'm very grateful for that. For the next 5-6 months they lived with Mike Baker who trained them so that when I went back the playing field would be more level between the two and I could make a more educated decision.
I went back a couple of weeks ago for a week (was told I could stay as long as I needed) to get trained with my new dog. I spent the first two days evaluating both of them and ended up going with Asko my first choice anyway. DISCLAIMER: I'm not an experienced handler but Mike got me up to speed quickly and I'm very happy with mine and Asko's progres and relationship. I knew I made the right choice all the way around when Asko started running through the field toward Mike (the guys that's been feeding him and taking care of him) I let him get about 2/3 the way there and called him and he came right back. I love this dog...
I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone to Birgit to get a dog. Asko and I are heading back in Sept. to attend a handler/decoy class. If anyone wants more info on Alert K9 just PM me and I'll help where I can.

If anyone knows a good decoy in the East Valley of Phoenix (Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale) I would appreciate the information. I'm having some issues finding one around me.
