Hi guys,
Can some one with knowledge on this topic clear something up for me please.
My pup has his right testicle in place, But his left one keeps yoyoing. If I cant find it in the scrotum I can usually find it and massage from the abdomen down to the scrotum.
He is now 9 week old, can that testicle still have the misfortune to be blocked by the inguinal canal? does the inguinal canal play any roll in keeping the testicle from moving to the abdomen?
What are they odds for it to come down in to place since it is nearly there?
Thanks for the time and help.

Stop poking and prodding, let nature do it's thing.

I think 9 weeks is a little early to be worried. I mean they are just now getting into place. I'd be watchful but try not to mess with it too much as you may stress him into sucking them back up into the body. Most normal dogs will have them fully into place on their own time.

I agree with dragonfry, the more you mess around the more likely he will suck it up. Leave him alone you're just stressing him out.

When it comes to stress, I am highly doubtful he is stress out as I have only done it when he is fast sleep, doesn't even know I did it.
I am still interested to learn more about the Inguinal canal, if someone has some knowledge on the topic and you help me with these questions... thanks

From what i remember my vet telling me (and we worked together daily for 8 years so we talked about a lot of odd stuff) once the dog hits a certain stage of development the Inguinal canal is suppose to prevent the gonad from getting pulled back into the body by a ring of tissue.
But if the gonad is unusually small, or the tissue constricts at the wrong time the gonad can get stuck in the wrong place.
My IPO trainer sold a male pup that had both gonads in place and they seemed normal at the time of sale, at i think it was 3 months. The dog came back to him due to owner divorce. The dog was not over 1.5 years. And low and behold, he's missing a testes. So he got neutered and sold to an active pet home. Because Chris doesn't want any monocryptorhcid being bred. It can run in some lines.
At this point just watch and wait.
Worry if they don't both fall into place when he's a bit older.

hot weather will make those suckers drop. they like to be cool & as far from the dog's body as they can get on a hot day :)

I sold a pup with one testicle for almost nothing, and as with all my pups a limited registration, but a few months later he droped the second.......ya never know.

It seems that testicles can be a bit of a gamble some times, I have heard of pups having both when young and then ending up with only one :S
