Can someone among those knowledgeable about GSD genetics tell me:
What are the likely coat patterns of pups out of a sable x B/T mating, when all 4 grandparents have different coat patterns:
Sable
Sable
(with pencil marks)
Bi-color
?
B/T
B/T
Solid
Your opinion?

The litter Should be about 25% bicolor, 25% Black and Tan, 50% sable..

Brilliant! Thank you Cullin Daggett.
What if the only solid in that picture were instead a bi-color? Meaning, two of the grandparents were bi-color.
Your thoughts?

If they were genetically bi color, then the odds will be the same.

Please know this is just a guess, there could be some hidden recessive genes that slipped through into the pups. But you should expect about 50% sable and the rest bicolor/black and tan.

Wonderful!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

If there are black, there will be no bicolor. And if there are bicolor, there will be no black. So, 50% sables, 25% Black/Tan, and the rest either bicolor OR black, but not both.

I should point out, that there IS the possibility you can get 100% of any ONE of the four patterns, so the forementioned predictions can easily fail. But, you have at least narrowed down the genotypes of each parent to some extent.

Ah yes. The crap shoot factor in genetics! Statistical probabilities aside, mother nature will decide what proportion of which color is actually produced and whether any mysteries will raise their confounding heads.
Thanks. Good point to keep in mind.
