Prager, I thought that was what I said.

I can understand and appreciate Paul's preference of the type dog he describes. I have the same preference, myself. A while back, a dog trainer came to my place on a social visit. He trains and certifies LE k9s, so was interested in seeing and testing several of my dogs. (not a client, just social visit). One of the guys with him asked if he could give a treat to one of the dogs we just worked. I declined, and when asked why not, I said, I want him to bite strangers offering food, not accepting it. The trainer said, "hell, every dog you brought out will bite!"
I said, and that's just the way I like them !

I wouldn't blame a dog for not liking kids. I don't like kids either.

That being said, I wouldn't own a dog who wasn't tolerant around them because... well... I'm unfortunately around them a lot.

This is way before your time, Brittany, but years ago,  Saturday Night Live did a sketch about a tv show called, "What If...?", where each week the show would pose a hypothetical question about something from a previous time, and then examine how things would have been affected.  My favorite episode was, 'What if...Eleanor Roosevelt could fly?", where we saw that World War II would have ended shortly after it began because Eleanor would have personally flown over to Germany--flying as in like Superman, not in an airplane--and reprimanded Hitler and his cohorts, causing them to change their ways.  This, in turn, would have meant that none of the German and Austrian scientists who were brought to the US at the end of World War II would have made that trip, and thus the first nuclear weapon wouldn't have been created for the US, but rather for Germany, and the world would be a very different place.

In other words, Brittany, you've got to stop with this 'what if...' crap. You've overstepped on this, and you need to pull up your big-girl panties and admit that you were wrong to even start this particular argument, because it's ridiculous at it's core.  The ad you refer to didn't say the poster WANTED a dog that wasn't social and wasn't good with kids--he simply said that neither of these characteristics were of any importance to his purpose for the dog.  That such dogs ALREADY exist is a fact you cannot argue out of existence; that few people breed for dogs that are not social and are not good with kids is also a fact, yet such dogs do exist, and instead of recognizing that and appreciating that at least one such dog would have a chance to live out it's natural life without being a casualty of society, you immediately slam the person seeking that type of dog for being a terrible person who wants a terrible thing.    You are in the wrong in this, Brittany, and you owe Paul Garrison an apology, and you need to take a step back and rein in your emotions once again.

Hexe, one your best posts! You know, like on American Idol, best performance ever!! (then the contestant gets voted off next day ;-/ , but that won't happen to you &:-)

There are people out there that are trying to take away our rights, inflicting their opinion on the rest of us. People should mind their own business. Ridiculous laws made by ridiculous people.

Brittany, you have no clue.

Being social and being socialized are two different things.  You can have a dog who is not social with others that has been socialized and habituated out the freaking yang.  You need to worm on your terminology.

Hey, i got two dislikes for saying Hexe's post was her best ever, but she got five likes for the same post I said was the best!? Life is just full of contradictions, isn't it? LOL

by Gustav on 27 April 2013 - 20:04

Some likes and dislikes are based solely on the person that wrote the person and give little consideration to content....I pay no attention to whether people like or dislike what I write...lol
