Hi. just wondering if anyone has imported a pup or dog from Frankfurt to Chicago ORD. Puppy is coming Monday and I'm not using a broker and have no idea what to expect. Also does anyone know how far away customs is from Lufthansa cargo. Thanks
Tony

My friend got a dog from Europe via Lufthansa cargo at ORD. I don't know specifics but I think it was a pretty smooth process. She was not using a broker either and it was her first time having a puppy shipped in.

We just got an import shipped from germany to chicago ORD there really is nothing to it. go to the Lufthansa cargo terminal give them your information etc. and you will get your puppy. we had no problems with ours being shipped and everything went smooth

I imported an adult GSD female Sept. 2012, Frankfurt to O'Hare. I used GK in Germany for delivery to Lufthansa. Lufthansa cleared customs in Chicago. I did not have to deal personally with customs, only Lufthansa cargo. Everything was great!

You probably already know this, but the air freight Cargo
terminal at O'Hare is entirely on the other side, accessed
from Irving Park Road.
Sometimes dogs come in as freight on regular flights,
in which case you pick them up downstairs in the
arrivl area.
Like I say, just in case.

Lufthansa, Frankfurt to O'hare is EASY. I've done it a few times, as recently as October. If you're really nice, and they're not super busy, the counter people at Lufthansa cargo (as stated by Jim Engel is off Irving Park Road) will clear the pup for you and you don't have to drive to customs and come back. For my adult, I had to drive to customs, but even then, it was easy, no big deal. Hand them the paper, answer their question, get your paperwork back, bring it back to the counter people at Lufthansa.
I swear, Frankfurt to O'hare is easier than most domestic flights I've arranged.

make sure you have 50$ cash to pay the person at the desk at Lufthansa cargo
