Hi there,

Do any of you out there know of kennels that breed showXworking line dogs in the states.  I was very lucky in finding my male who acts like a working line in a show line body.  I still love the look of both but I really love black dogs as well as dogs with good pigment and most importantly, will excel in schutzhund.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I, too, really like the show/working combo. Very nice!

Try Shannon Huffman at von der Sauk in South Carolina. She has crossed some very nice working and showlines, but I doubt she has any solid blacks. Theresa

I loved the results of my showline X workingline breeding (VA-Arko vom Butjenter Land and V-Chuckie vom Schloss Laer). Here is the one who was sent to Germany as a 5 month old: www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/587213.html I still have sister Tanja here. It was one of the most uniform litter we have had to date. Their black mother Chuckie produces conformation in every litter. Her one son by V-Karn Fegelhof is featured on Gary Hanrahan's website and is offered for stud - Hudson von der Kalten Hardt, BSP-partipant, V-rated, KKL1. Brother Hutch was last year's German Vice Universal Sieger and will compete again this year. A black sister was V-5 under Wilfried Scheld in Germany. My two black Paska-children are too young for V-ratings yet, but there should not be any doubt that both will get that easily. Olympia is in Germany and will remain there until sometimes next year, but Onyx is home with us and will be shown this fall, when he turns two.
This is Onyx in Germany last winter at an indoor show (not very professional photo but it shows his nice structure):

I really liked my O-litter and would have repeated this breeding but unfortunately, Paska is dead.  As a few judges already stated, Paska did produce structure which is direly needed.
Here is a Paska-son who will hopefully (if the breeding takes) be the sire of my next litter, mother will be our Chuckie:

Nolan not only brings Paska, but also the motherline to Buster Adelmannsfelder Land through his mother Xallie. Xallie has produced some other beautiful dogs. Take a look at the F-litter von den schwarzen Seeperlen. Paul, the breeder has all of them featured here. He closely linebred on Buster and brother Bito. It is nice to know that there are people in Germany who care to try to bring the black GSD back to the shows and people are starting to notice.

You might also look into a working line breeder who breeds to improve drive, temperament AND structure in the working lines.  Breeding V-KKl-1 working line dogs who are powerful in the work and also can live in the house with the family - also show lines that have the drives, nerve and temperament that can work and structure to show!
