The sire has OFA "DEGENERATIVE JOINT DISEASE I UNILATERAL LEFT" does anyone know if this from an injury, or is it genetic? Are his films from before he was imported? 

I have been told the sire creates good working dogs/drive, but some people have reported extreme handler aggression issues, and the elbow worries me if someone can't tell me the cause. He one of the upper dogs in my area, and am l curious to know answers to these holes.

Well, he had hip & elbows done through OFA @ 43 months of age, so it would suggest that these films were done after he was here in the US.
