It is with a heavy heart that I inform all that Chance (Sarge from Beckley WV) was laid to rest yesterday by his
loving owner and myself. He passed with those who loved him the most gathered around. Chance took a turn
for the worse a few days ago and his bladder and intestines completely shut down, and while he was a happy
boy to the end, his body was no longer functioning. Chance had the absolutel best 4.5 months a dog could
ask for with someone who worshipped the ground he walked on.
Here is the tribute that Vicki posted:
Today, 02/11/2013 at 1730 hrs, I said "good-bye" to "Chance", for the last time, as I held him on my lap.
Four months ago to the day, I had the honor of bringing Chance home to live with me. Although he was often called the one that had been rescued, I feel that I was equally rescued by him.
His past was unknown to us, and we do not know all that he had endured, but his last months on this earth he was loved by many and he was finally able to live as he deserved. As a companion, as a son, as my best friend.
Until we meet again at the "Rainbow Bridge"...

OMG how sad! Making me teary. Happy for the wonderful time he was given for sure! Condolences to you both.

What a beautiful tribute. It's never easy loosing one of our four legged friends. You have my heart felt sympathy.

Oh bless, I think we all followed 'Sarge'.
He was one of the lucky ones who finally got to live and be loved as he deserved and when his time to leave had come, he was surrounded with love.

So sad, poor boy, but so good he passed with someone who loved him. Sorry both of you did not have longer together.

So sorry it turned out this way and you did not have longer together.
But he had a wonderful home for at least that short time - thank you
