OK, please help me figure it out. It is very confusing for a newbie. I am planning on trying for BH in the spring, at GSD- WDA trial. A friend I train with suggested that I get AWDF scorebook ( as a Mondio ring member) to keep my options open for the future. From looking at the GSD-WDA site, I can't figure out if I can enter a trial with AWDF scorebook, and at the AWDF website, GSD WDA is not listed as member.
So I guess my question is, which scorebook do I get. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

This question came up yesterday and no one knew the answer. The WDA generally accepts all scorebooks. I would suggest sending a letter to the WDA and getting whatever response you get in writing. I see a potential grey area with someone stuck in the middle while trial secretaries try to figure things out. Sometimes the clubs hosting the events can be confused as to just what is accepted and what is not. There have been cases reported where titles earned were taken away because the wrong scorebook was used. I believe Joy at the WDA office would be your point of contact.
Another just as important consideration is the judges and the organization they represent. Some are accepted universally, others are not. You may want to plan out your future goals, look at what's available in your area, and form a plan around what your resources are. Check clubs carefully, not all are created equal. If you want to train and actually title your dog. Look for a club that has a proven track record of actually titling dogs. There are more out there that don't than do.

Be careful Botanica37, under FCI rules you can only have one scorebook per dog. The choice you make now may limit you in the future. Dog1 gave you excellent advice I would emphasize his suggestion to get it in writing.

I agree with Marko. I would get the AWDF book. If you get a WDA book you are locked in.

How do you figure you are locked in? The new rules apply to FCI countries and contract partners only. While AWDF issues score books they are not the sole provider of score books within this country. DVG requires all DVG members to use their DVG issued score books at DVG trials yet to enter the AWDF Championship via the DVG, members are required to use an AWDF book issued through the DVG/LV America. It is my understanding the AWDF will sign both books at the AWDF Championship if asked. So one score book isn't really the case here in the US. I would also add the DVG does allow WDA books to enter their trials.

well, the response from GSD-WDA doesn't help that much: "If the AWDF scorebook has the United Schutzhund Club's logo on the front it
is acceptable at WDA events. If not, you can order a scorebook from WDA"
The one I have doesn't have that logo. So, I guess I will contact USA and see if I can get a scorebook as non-member. From what I gather, it seems that the AWDF - USA, would give me the most options? From the DVG website, it doesn't look like I can get a scorebook as non-member.

If you're a WDA mamber, you should contact your regional director. From there, you will be directed on what to do next.
I've been told that the problem has been resolved and that WDA members should be able to enter any club level UScA event (not sure of the other levels).
Enter the trial as early as possible, if you have any issues, contact your regional director who will contact the prez, who will contact the WUSV who will start sanctions against the UScA.

SitesMom, who has resolved this issue? Are the people that have this scorebook now pawns that the WDA and GSDCA can use to play gotcha with UScA? Botanical37, UScA requires membership to get a scorebook, if you think you may want to trial at a UScA event I would think twice before getting a WDA scorebook. There is an issue with the WDA scorebook because it is not produced by a WUSV organization so UScA doesn't have to accept it. Rather than communicate with UScA the WDA would have their members attempt to use the scorebook then they would file a grievance with the WUSV . End result you don't get to trial and the WDA gets to use you as a test case. Notice SitasMom said member of WDA, so if you are a non member with their scorebook are you out of luck?

From the UScA today:
GSDCA-WDA Scorebook Issue
USCA is a member of the WUSV and as such abides by the WUSV Constitution. The WDA president, Mr. Yee, has recently accused USCA of intentional violation of the WUSV Constitution because we currently do not accept their scorebooks. It is false that USCA would intentionally violate the WUSV Constitution and assertions that we have or would are irresponsible.
Mr. Yee asked if USCA would accept a GSDCA member, with a GSDCA scorebook, with titles from SV judges. I explained to Mr. Yee that there are current complexities in accepting members with such a precise set of criteria. Trying to differentiate members who met the criteria and those that did not that could negatively impact our trial secretaries, the WDA competitors, and our judges. The complexities include, but are not limited to WDA having non-SV judges, having WDA (not GSDCA) books still in circulation that are not GSDCA scorebooks, time to verify whether or not the GSDCA was truly issuing the scorebooks, and WDA members who are unaware that they must be GSDCA members to participate. I informed Mr. Yee that the only viable solution to the situation was for USCA to accept everything that a competitor could bring to a USCA trial event. This acceptance would make things cleaner / easier on our members and would avoid some foreseeably uncomfortable situations. I informed Mr. Yee that the EB needed time to think through all possible issues, but would discuss the issue and acceptance soon.
While I believed that Mr. Yee understood, he has now threatened USCA with a WUSV complaint and publicly requested that WDA members inform him when USCA denies their entry into USCA trials. Our EB is aware of all of the above and is dealing with the WUSV to resolve these issues. Once we receive clear communication from the WUSV, I am confident that we will reach an amicable solution that does not put undue burden on the members of our organization.
