Hi everyone,

I have a quick question - I feed all raw so have no clue about what is a "good kibble". I have a friend who just rescued a 4 year old male. The dog is fairly active and they plan on doing some agility with him. I woul say medium to high activity level.

They asked me about kibble choices for him - good quality, low to mid-range price point.

The only ones I know to recommend are Origen and Acana - but those are just too exspensive for a bag for them.

We are in SW Ontario - so any recommendations would be great. They said they would be willing to do about $40-$50 per bag.

Any recommendations would be great so I could pass them on.

Thanks!

I would go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ to read reviews of quality kibble base on the ingredients.

Well, I know for the price they are willing to pay, they are not going to get something that *I* as an owner would be satisfied with. I like whole meats, no grain.

These are the two that were recommended to me by someone on my facebook:

Acana Sport & Agility

Egal Pack Dog Large

I am just not sure which would be a better "bang for their buck". I personally like the Acana products better just based on reputation alone - but again - I don't feed kibble so not sure... She also has a medium sized dog that would be eating the same food I presume.

I heard costco has a kibble called natures domain that is grain free and everyone I know who uses it is very happy with it

I am not sure if she has a Costco membership but I can ask. Thanks.

Any other suggestions are welcomed! :)

I feed NutriSource.  Grain free chicken.  Here in the states it costs me $43 for a 30 lb bag ($45.57 after tax).  477 calories per cup, 28/18 protein and fat.  Also one of the few foods I found that contains no beet pulp

http://www.victordogfood.com/  This is what I feed my puppy in my opinion it is the best bang for your buck. You get the high quality dog food you are looking for with out paying 70$ a bag I pay around 30$ for a big bag. Its very reasoable for the quality your getting.

I personally feed my dog 1:1 mix of Acana Pacifica and Orijen 6 Fish
I found the Horizon Legacy to be very competitive price wise and quality wise to Orijen and Acana.
I have not feed this type of food to my dog, but online reviews are very positive.
I think it is actually slightly cheaper than Acana grain free line.
