I am trying to help 6 pure breed GSD puppies that are a day old that were dropped at a shelter without a mom. Do you know any GSD enthusists that may have a throw a way lactating mom, OR are willing to try bottle feeding?"

Does anyone know if a lactating mother is found, would that put the other pups at risk, if the other pups are 2.5 weeks old? Could the pups possibly even be safely transported?

Although Rose is not lactating, she is a good teaching mom, so we can get in the mom lessons too.

If any one "has a lactating throw away Gsd mom", then they are not such an "enthusiast." Get some goat milk, a baby bottle and feed them.
Reconstituted canned goat milk will make them thrive. Put a hot water bottle in the nest for heat, potty them before and after meals, use a soft Kleenex, apply a&d ointment on bottoms to prevent chaffing.

OK- it would be a no go :( From what I have been told, they could get parvo and bring it in with them, as they arent nursing and therefore have no immunity to anything :( Poor babies! I cant even believe a monster would do something like this! :(

called shelter- pups not there. :( Could not get any more info... :(

called friend with a rescue in the neighboring state- she emailed the shelter and called the director and left a message that said her rescue will take them if they are there.
