Hello everyone,

I feed my GSD Artemis fresh mix ( grain free ), I just want to know how aften should I give him raw bones for his teeth and gum and to enjoy it :) ?
once daily is too much or once weekly is fine ? just guide lines and i will go from it coz if I am giving him too mush I wont notice coz he is not gonna gain weight but he would be taking too much vitamins.

Thanks.

not sure what "fresh mix" is, but large raw beef bones are wonderful as a treat.
be careful, if your dog ingests too much, he may become constipated.

that's exactly my question :) how much is too much ?!

I would say give them bone, let chew for a couple of hours then pick the bone up and either refreeze or throw away;  I do not give them to my guys unattended.  I would say a couple times per week would be OK,  if very large like prey model feeding like a deer leg if there is a lot of meat on it that could possibly be the dog's meal;  after l/2 hour or so pick up and refreeze or throw away.  I also give the bones frozen as it takes them a little longer to chew up.  Just what works for my guys.  Mine seem to devour bones pretty quickly, but if a puppy you could let them chew a little every day for say an hour then pick up.  Helps to strengthen jaws and get rid of puppy teeth and if adult a couple times per week or a little every day providing they do not devour bone all at once.  Like Sitasmom says, they can get too much.

Also watch their poops, you do not want powdery poops, you want poops to look normal, if it is powdery then y ou are giving too much bone.  I use that as my guide.  Great days,  Nan

PS;  RAW ONLY, NO COOKED BONES EVER.....
