I recently adopted a retiring German Shepherd from a local Sheriffs office. He has a tattoo inside his right ear. Wanted to see if anyone had any information as to what the numbers stood for or any information the tattoo may provide. The tattoo is 50026.

He'll be on a register somewhere - but where ?
If its a Czech number start with someone who
knows about Czech dog registration - you may get
a useful reply on here. If no one posts, try starting
a different thread with the actual question: "Is this a
Czech Tattoo Number ?" as the title.
Failing it being Czech or anyone recognising it for
product of some other country, you could try the
SV ; it doesn't look like a German number to me
either, but there are exceptions and I've been wrong
before.
It almost certainly isn't a dog originally from the UK,
partly 'cos there aren't that many in the States and
partly 'cos NDTR UK tattoos have 3 letters before
the 4 or 5 number bit.
HOWEVER having said all that, there are also LEO,
and commercial breeding, kennels all over the world
which have their own numbering systems, unique to dogs
they produce or handle.
And there is no central registry for most of those.
America has a Dog Tattoo Registry scheme - can't
remember details, but you should be able to find
it through Google etc. It isn't a very big organisation
but I believe it accepts numbers and owner/breeder details
of dogs that have not just been tattooed by ppl connected
with that Registry.

Do you have more info on that dog, like dob? It wouldn't be 20 January 2005??

Thank you everyone for the help. I'm so interested in finding out information about him and where he is from. Hukka, I'm not sure of his dob. When I adopted him towards the end of last year, he was 7.

The dog **could** be Fando z Tehelne, dob 20 Jan.2005. Without knowing at least his dob, can't be sure?? Fando would be 8 today.
