is it just me or do males grow slower than females..............some ppl in my building have a gsd male, tat i always thought they where lieing about his age untill around 6 months, because he was so small..........i went back to one of my breeders today, so a friend could buy my males sister, the 3 girls he picked from where WAY bigger then my tyson...........i do realize im trying to keep him thin, and let him grow slow, but DAMN where they bigger, colors further along in the changing process and everything, way browner than him............if i didnt compare papers i would think these dogs where from different litters..............am i just crazy/need to feed my dog more/or am i on to something???

The thing you're onto is that you noticed you're male is smaller than his litter sisters. Most males are larger than the females from the start and what I've noticed is that they remain larger throughout puppy hood and onto adult. But, like people, size can vary. Not all men are six feet tall.

Yes, it is a coincidence only.  All of Rose's male pups are huge.  Max is at about 65 lbs at 9 months and he is kept on the thin side.  Max is also one of the smaller males.

Why is your male being smaller (and a different shade) than his sisters at this stage in their development process a cause for concern?

I'm not being sarcastic- I don't understand what the issue is.

I've noticed a lot of males (showlines especially) tend to have more black than the females...

thats what im tryin to figure out if there is something to b concerned about, i feed my female(diff dog), 3 times a day, and kept her "potbellied" @ this stage, then i read that i should keep them lean and let them grow slowly until joint grow strong, so my male i was only feeding 2 times a day.........he seems healthy, but i started to wonder when i say his sisters.............can i send pics for comparison to someone, i would post them, but the pic of the female has the new ownere in it, i dont wanna put her on the internet without permission
