i finally ordered a dogtra, having queried about them on here some years ago.... i have been using the petsafe big dog remote trainer and my 5 year old spunky has responded nicely with it but the batteries die really fast and i like the fact that dogtra is rechargeable. this particular model is listed as the most popular and i would like to hear from anyone that has used it. i was personally against the idea, quite a bit, for some years. someone i knew burned holes in an akita's neck and i have no intention of doing that. i only want to correct behaviors like deer chasing and dog aggression, or in the case of the 4 month old pup, eating poop. spunky responds to the petsafe collar on setting of 6 while purity the 4 month old just ignores the petsafe on it's highest setting of 8 and the plus 2 button. 1 year old karma is somewhere in between them.

I have the dogtra SureStim Plus, with pager. Have used it exactly twice. Got it because my dog was chasing deer. It has a nick and continuous mode. Unfortunately, I dont think it worked on my dog at all, even at full power. I know the device was working because I could feel the shocks when tested on myself. Also purchased the Leerburg DVD to use it correctly. Its still possible that I am using it incorrectly...anyway, if anyone is interested to purchase it, PM me.

STOP! what you're doing right now!  The brand/features of ANY e-collar are irrelevant unless you know how to TRAIN your dog.  Only then do the features factor in.  You should NEVER have to use any e-collar at it's highest setting.  FYI e-colar stimulation doesn't "burn holes".  What people think are burns from electricity are really blisters from a collar that is incorrectly fitted (too loose-like shoes that are too big) or a collar that is left on too long without being rotated to a different part of the neck.

The e-collar is the best & the worst training tool.  You will do irreparable damaage to your relationship with your dog & your training goals if you're not at least aquainted with a basic understanding of dog training.  For your dog's sake, before you even touch an e-collar watch these videos.
