american ppl in here are not the norm, they should be but are not........ppl in here love their dogs which is GREAT. though ive seen the (what i call "the german way") reflected on some us websites........as a whole americans will sell u a dog if u have money and want one............over here my breeder (which wasnt convenient/i highly respected it) actually interviewed me, asked financia questions among many other, then provided a selection for me 2 choose from...........when i had my breeder find my second pup they made me bring the first one to "check her out" before allowing me to meet second breeder and look @ new pups................QUESTION IS how is this level of the selection proccess instituted when importing a pup, or do the germans that import not care where pups end up?.................HOPEFULLY THIS EVEN MAKES SENSE TO SOMEONE
When I buy a dog, I speak to a breeder/trainer or several, that have a dog I am interested in. After speaking with them, telling them EXACTLY what I am looking for, what and how I intend to train the dog, etc, I expect an answer, yes, no.
I am not adopting a child, looking for a mortgage or anything that would require me to present a financial disclosure to a seller. I have never been presented a contract, nor did I ever ask for one.
I am buying a dog, if the seller is not satisfied with me after we speak, he/she/it does not have to sell me one, but, neither do I have to comply with what I consider idiotic demands.
well part of the questioning is because since ww2 their have been a lot of americans in germany, and u know how a lot of us are, get whats new and exciting, and when the fun goes away they trash it.............germany LOVE THEIR dogs, and r sick of their shelters filling up wit american abandonments........most germans wont even sell to soldiers or any military affiliate other then mil police over here............i was reccomended by a german former client, so they dealt with me, but where still unsure about me
"germany LOVE THEIR dogs, and r sick of their shelters filling up wit american abandonments."
Have you actually been to a German shelter?
Just like buying a dog/puppy in the U.S...All breeders are different...There are bigger kennels and smaller ones...Some want to stay in touch with you after you get one of their puppies and others don't...This is why to me it's so important when buying a dog/puppy that you learn what the breeder is all about and you become satisfied/happy with what they are and what their goals are...
Although it's still a business no matter how it's handled...It can be still be done in a way where there is good communication and not just BS like selling a car...
Some breeders are nothing more then "Used Car Salesmen" and others Aren't salesmen...but rather dog people who REALLY care about their dogs...It's up to the buyer to sort through what's real and what's not...and be happy with the deal...

@ gross yeah i have down the street y?...with u @ qman
Just out of curiosity, why did you have occasion to go to a German shelter if you were looking to buy GSD's from breeders?
Either way, I have been to a German shelter and it was anything but full and I also question the characterization of lots of Americans abandoning their dogs there.
gross yeah i have down the street y?...with u @ qman
What the hell does this mean?
